"It should be your care, therefore, and mine, to elevate
the minds of our children and exalt their courage;
to accelerate and animate their industry and activity;
to excite in them an habitual contempt of meanness,
abhorrence of injustice and inhumanity, and
an ambition to excel in every capacity, faculty, and virtue.
If we suffer their minds to grovel and creep in infancy,
they will grovel all their lives."

Yes. Are we not encouraged and even enslaved economically to grovel and creep all our lives? Think of the magnitude of the Lost Human Potential Encouraged by a system of "government" that was created "for the people" and for the future development and growth of their posterity.Lucifer had his hand in this ultimate coruption,for sure.It saddens the ones who are working for the betterment of America.

    I hate it when the Rothbard Cult in Libertarian circles act as if anti-aggression was his invention, or is Rothbard older than Adam(s) here? Rothbard didn't even make such a claim, even acrediting the Catholic Church's threology for some of his thoughts and concerns, his worshipers are nuts.

    Yes children should be educated, the question here seems always to be by whom should the children be educated. Many fear what they call state education and others may call community education. A correction should be made to a comment made here that seemed to cast Kindergarten in a bad light as a German statist, Nazi or social engineering gimmick. Contrary to that view the history of Kindergarten is that it was started in 1837 and based on a 1650's institution in Switzerland called the School of Infancy. Kindergarten was hailed as a method of early education that enabled children to develop initiative and self-directedness. So much so that the Prussian government outlawed it in 1851 because it was feared to be creating revolutionaries or free thinking people. The Prussians it seems prefered the traditional regimented approach.

    "Elevate their minds," "exalt their courage," and "excite in them an habitual contempt of meanness, abhorrence of injustice and inhumanity." Schools like these are hard to find, but given the caliber of our Founders, I can only imagine they came from them.

    Schools like these are found in your own library at home, not in some collection of government approved textbooks of PC indoctrination.

    A great and noble concept ! ! !The occupying statist theocracy infesting this land’s demonic patrons are also very aware of such micro to macro concept’s power and dignity. One of the many methods history’s criminal malefactors have utilized to control the King of Eternity’s heirs, along with their minds, hearts and soles is to alter word and concept meanings and applications – by way of example: “courage, industry, activity, meanness, injustice, inhumanity, and virtue”. Today’s mental and sensorial understanding(s) seems to be very different from/to the original oration.

    Who's 'care' should it be? Yours and mine -- not 'theirs' whomever 'they' may be. Once again it is a call to taking responsibility. This distinction makes the difference between the noble sovereignty of the common man and the subject of a Crown/State.

    The highest calling, and most solemn obligation, of every parent.
    A noble responsibility never to be delegated the State.

    As it is written:

    " Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it."

    ~ Proverbs 22:6

    and

    " And ye fathers, provoke not your children to wrath, but bring them up in the nurture and admonition of the Lord."

    ~ Ephesians 6:4

    Waffler, the quote more closely addresses the parent child relationship than theocratic seminaries (government schools). A community education is nothing more than a collectivist's false facade in how to emblazon the tyrannical results of Stockholm Syndrome.
