"Switzerland, on the other hand, insists that every male of military age must keep a powerful, fully automatic assault rifle in his home. Every home must be armed -- by law -- and some even keep mortars. Yet Switzerland has one of the most law-abiding citizenry, the lowest crime rate, and least violence of any country in the free world. And it has remained free for over a thousand years. Compare it to New York and Washington where handguns are completely banned. In fact, in Washington, Chief of Police Maurice Turner recently said that the District of Columbia gun ban law had completely failed, and he has called for armed citizen's police auxiliary to help restore order."

That bunch of commies running Washington won't rest until guns are banned. And can't you just see all the criminals marching straight in to turn in their guns ? Me neither.

    Lies, lies, lies.

We in Canada have very strict gun laws. We consider hand guns and assault weapons as offencive and therefore in need of control.

Now here's the irony; Gun ownership in Canada exceeds that in the US and A, but our murder rate is one tenth of that country. You have to ask yourself, why?

Can I get a DAH ! ! ! L. Hanson, why ask why? It seems to be extremely obvious to everyone but you. Read the quote again.

Hanson, Canada has has registration of handguns since the 1930's and still does.
Yet 90 +% of all gun crime in Canada is committed with handguns...how is that possible with them being registered and all? Mine is registered...but it doesn't commit any crimes because it isn't owned by a criminal. See how that works? And in Canada you can buy a semi-automatic AK-47 or CZ 858 or AR-15 with the same licence required for a hunting rifle, they're not considered as restricted at all.

    L. Hanson, every time I read your comment I just have to shake my head and smile. First, the quote makes an assumption why Switzerland is so safe - non-violent - many guns. Then you say Canada has more guns than the US and it is a safer place. Do you see a pattern emerging.

Mentality, mentality, mentality, I need say no more.... What makes the US so dangerous are the religious and political extremists. Perhaps if we stopped eating meat, giving toy guns to our children, turn off the propaganda box and read books, discuss things around the kitchen table, ban brutal video games and ESPN, lower the divorce rate, and give our families more love and attention, things may be different.

Robert, you have just made all that up. There is no evidence to support your claims about a gun-free society, and the only way to implement such a 'program' would be totalitarianism -- I suppose YOU are the perfect judge as to what people may and may not do? The Swiss obviously do not need your dictatorship, never have. Personal responsibility is the key to liberty, not making one a slave to dictates of government. Has not France learned enough of fascism to resist it?

There is a reason why Switzerland has such a record and longevity. Friday the 13th has much to do with it, tracing the course of liberty and freedom across Europe, from the middle east to the USA, what a good lesson in history. Eventually people will figure it out. After the stigma is removed.

Uhm... No, there is no such law that says we have to keep guns in our homes = stupid. And no, mortars are illegal here in Switzerland... Oh dear, get educated people. This is just very old bullshit, sorry.

I doubt all from Switzerland feel as you do, and I doubt you know all from Switzerland. Let alone the history in depth of your so called place of origin.

Prior to 1307 Sion, Switzerland had already been settled by the Knights Templar in the Walser region. Sion as in Jerusalem Israel. The name sake region of the Walser people. The Walser people migrated there in the 10th and 11th centries. During those time the Templars had also settle the region Sion Switzerland, the capital of Valais. The migration and subsequent " Free- Man " status was granted expressly because of the Walser association with the Knights Templar resettlement after their persecution in 1307 on Friday the 13th of March, the third month. 3-13-1307 Switzerland became a buffer state in the 12th century. I will not go into the importance of the meaning of 3:13, and of 1307, But let Israel hope in the Lord. Semper Fi

The largest land holder and the largest denomination of Threskeia religion on the planet, of which our founding fathers had great distain, persecuted the Knights of the Temple, in 1307. If any man have an ear, let him hear, Rev 13:07 , And it was given unto him to make war with the saints, and to overcome them: and power was given him over all kindreds, and tongues, and nations. This was written 2000 years ago. John 13:07 What I do thou knowest not now; but thou shalt know hereafter. Romans 13:07 Render therefore to all their dues: tribute to whom tribute is due. ( if not due why pay ). I Corin 13:07 Bearth all things, believeth all things, hopeth all things, endureth all things. II Corin 13:07 Now I pray to God that ye do no evil; not that we should appear approved, but that you should do that which is honest, though we be as reprobates, for we can do nothing against the truth, but for the truth. Heb 13:07 Remember them which have the rule over you, who have spoken unto you the word of God; whose faith follow, considering the end of their conversation. Knowledge goes full circle through the course of time. Proverbs 13:07 There is he that maketh himself rich, yet hath nothing: there is that maketh himself poor , yet hath great riches. Habakkuk 3:13 Thou wentest forth for the salvation of thy people, even for salvation with thine anointed ; thou woundedst the head out of the house of the wicked, by discovering the foundation unto the neck. The grace of God be with all his saints. Amen
