"The advantage of national planning is its ability to remove the wastes of oligopolistic anarchy, i.e. meaningless product differentiation and an imbalance between different industries within a geographical area. It concentrates all levels of decision making in one locale and thus provide each region with a full complement of skills and occupations. This opens up new horizons of local development by making possible the social and political control of economic decision-making. Multinational corporations, in contrast, weaken political control because they span many countries and can escape national regulation."

And protectionist rhetoric. Since when is "social and political control" of anything a good thing?

don't throw the baby out with the bath water... while the solution seems off base, the problem identification is well formed. The destructive effects of King George W's policies are a fine example. Big business rules the roost today, and it rains destruction upon the little person who has no one to protect their interests... KGW is building nothing more than a variation upon feudal society, and the middle ages were hardly a marvel we should seek to reproduce.

My investments (and I am not wealthy by any means) are doing well today as opposed to when the First Playboy ruled. Back then I could not afford investments. Don't stop with the baby and the bathwater, throw out the tub as well!! I am a 'little guy' and am better off today than I have ever been. If that is a result of KGWs policies, I wish we could have another 4 years of it!!! Anon, are you a 'little guy' getting destruction rained upn you? I suggest you speak for yourself only, and not the mythical "little guy". If the Social Democats appeal to anyone it is the stupid, easily led, and the illegals among us not the free 'little guy'.

For more than a decade Multinational Corporations have been operating in the Niger Delta. I dont seem to be aware of any sustancial development in the region, in fact, enviroment pollution is worst and the local government doesnt help. As far as I know petroleum companies share assets with the local government. On the other side, the developed countries have been using the petroleum they extract from the region in their super monster trucks that consume 4 liters per km.
