"When you become entitled to exercise the right of voting for public officers, let it be impressed on your mind that God commands you to choose for rulers, 'just men who will rule in the fear of God.' The preservation of [our] government depends on the faithful discharge of this Duty; if the citizens neglect their Duty and place unprincipled men in office, the government will soon be corrupted; laws will be made, not for the public good so much as for selfish or local purposes; corrupt or incompetent men will be appointed to execute the Laws; the public revenues will be squandered on unworthy men; and the rights of the citizen will be violated or disregarded. If [our] government fails to secure public prosperity and happiness, it must be because the citizens neglect the Divine Commands, and elect bad men to make and administer the Laws."

Noah Webster
(1758-1843) American patriot and scholar, author of the first dictionary of American English usage (1806) and the author of the 1828 edition of the dictionary that bears his name.

That I could rate this 100 times. Divine commands here were earlier interpreted to be natural law (that cause which has effect, that which occurs with accordant regularity or uniform rapidity). By way of example: gravity, fiscal applications, science, math, man's lawfully definable movements, etc. - Jefferson's 'we hold this truth to be self evident'. The United States being a Christian nation does not infer that a majority of its people believe in Christ but rather, laws, rights, etc. are beyond the ability of mere mortal man to create, alter, amend, or extinguish. The founders chose to exemplify the point by drawing on Judeo / Christian history to establish a lawful existence through a representative republic. The state of freedom and liberty's decay in the US proves Webster's assessment.

Carlton it is so wrong and I guess just plain UGLY of you to say that Obama is not an American. Such statements as that are what make this a lousy country. You don't even live here. I believe not only is your statement a LIE it is hate speech.

I don't have a problem with it. 'God' is not the point -- would RBESRQ agree if it said 'just men who will rule in the fear of Karma'? Or any fear of retribution from the honorable? Webster merely speaks of the philosophical doctrine that 'as we sow, so shall we reap' -- is it not the same as 'do unto others as you would have done unto you' -- which is in the Upanishads (older than the Bible)? It seems like a knee-jerk reaction to reject something because a person uses the word 'God' to express one's highest conscientious ideals when you indeed hold the same ideals for integrity and honor.

And just an aside, Obama hardly is a man of honor -- in fact we haven't had an honorable man in the White House for a LONG time. Why do we keep electing LIARS?! Or better, why are our choices only choices between one charlatan and another?

Waffler...which nation's passport was Obama flying around the middle east on when in his twenties? It wasn't an American one, was it? Nope! He is not an American...I don't hate him for "that"...I hate him because he is a communist. And I have lost most of my respect for a system that allows its own laws to be broken to put a communist in power. Oh and by the way...I can live in the US anytime I want to. I'm a citizen.

Interesting construction Jim and I will grant you that it is maybe true, hate speech is free speech. But lies are lies. Obama was born in Hawaii to an American. I don't know about visa and pass port laws concerning legal reisidents (green carders) versus citizens. When Obama was in Indonesia his step-daddy was an Indonesia and he was like Carlton except for being a child a legal resident of that country. If he traveled with his family and Indonesia step father while he was a child it seems very possible that he might have Indonesian papers. I still think lies are hate speech, free hate speech but still hate speech. You can still be sued for lies under libel laws, so lies are not entirely free, you may have to pay up in court. So go have your silly fun and JJim man-up later.

Kenya and Indonesia may both recognize Obama as a citizen of theirs that does not make him not a citizen of the United States the land of his and his mothers birth. Kenya may recognize him because it is the land of his fathers birth, and Indonesia may recognize him because it is the land it which he lived with his family for a number of years. What Kenya and Indonesia do has no effect or control on what the United States of America does, which is OBEY THE LAW which proclaims you a citizen when you are born here or if you are born elsewhere of an American parent. The only way to lose your American citizenship is if you apply for citizenship to another country with the intent of giving up your USA citizenship. Gusy with the mental block Carlton espouses have just got to get up to speed and move on.

Archer, good point. But, I'm afraid it doesn't wash because most of your example do not provide a power above yourself. Yes the Upanishads were before the bible even before Buddha they are derived from the Vedic traditions and they go back 4000 years. Especially the verse about "doing unto others" - you see they even plagiarized in those days.

Waffler, once upon a time, when the controversy over Obama's citizenship began to heat up, 2 separate birth certificates were posted online from 2 separate hospitals in Hawaii. hmmm Both were taken down within hours of discovering the oops. One of the documents lives on as the real thing when no documents existed just months earlier. Is it the real thing? No one can prove a negative. (you can't prove one way or the other that he was born in Hawaii if there was no certificate) With the resources of such a super corrupt government, a birth certificate can easily be made and put in place where no document existed before. There is a lot of evidence, testimony, data, circumstantial information, etc. demonstrating that Obama is not a U.S. citizen. Most of such can have examinations and fabrications to the contrary. I believe, whether or not Obama is a U.S. citizen, (he may have been born in Hawaii even as unlikely as it seems) it will never be able to be proved contrary to the corrupt statist theocracies desires.

From great nations, great leaders issue.

The most certain measure of the greatness of any nation is the morality of its people.

    As John Adams expressed it:

"Our Constitution was made only for a moral and religious people. It is wholly inadequate for the government of any other.

Objectively, the vigor, the viability, of the Constitution is the Virtue of the people.

Waffler, as time has shown, Obama's birth certificate and other identifying documents / presentations have been proven fraudulent; and, by "reputable", you must mean sheeple patrons of socialist deprivations that maintain a posture of blind folded slaves marching in lock step unto their destruction.

RBESRQ, Your interpretation of 'god', that being man is a mere puppet with an inability to be responsible for his own actions is not the God in which I have a relation with nor, is it apropos to the above subject matter. The reference to God here is an endowment of natural law with man being responsible for his own actions. If man decides to live the benefits of natural law, so be it. If man chooses other rules or canons to live by, such consequences will follow. In that way, man is responsible for his own actions. Webster was here merely outlining the results of free choice.

The Mike, why use the word GOD just say what you mean and leave the word God out of your comments, otherwise you confuse your readers.
GOD has nothing to do with honor, integrity, or a moral existence. It is because we worship these myths that has cause division, death, and destruction. If I could have gone back in time I would have made sure Abraham did not become responsible for creating these three arms of religion. Where is this God, outside your comfortable living rooms, who watches women being brutalized and raped in the Sudan - the list is so long that I quake just thinking about it! And by the way, which God are you referring too as there are thousands of mythical Gods.

Are we to create yet another God and Call it Natural Law?
Who will be responsible for defining Natural Law?
Will there be rules that we must follow under Natural Law?
Will there be a new legal system under Natural Law?
-- robert, Somewhere in the US

robert, I used the word "God" because that is what I meant. Your definition of a "god" is extremely narrow and does not fit the being Elohim. Your god is government with the same duties you assign to government - only, you equate your or any god to an absolute controller of each and every thought and action of man. That is a description of what the current occupying statist theocracy infesting this land is doing (mandating canons to control thought, action and being). You have read the definition I've written here of religion more than a few times over the years. I have also written some of the miracles that have happened to me that are beyond scientific explanation (by way of extremely terse example; my sister that was in a coma for months and was expected to die any time - her head shaved with a cracked skull oozing liquid. 2 gentlemen of God laid their hands on her head and blessed her to get well. While they were so evoking the healing she woke up. Everyone immediately went out of the room to find a doctor or turned towards the door calling for a nurse. When everyone turned around, back to my sister, she had a full head of long hair, no fracture in her skull with no other sign of injury. - The doctor that came in was as atheistic as you seem and, upon looking at my sister said "s#*t happens." I don't suggest such events will change anyone's mind set so, I only give this example to explain my knowledge, belief and hope. Another long story made here really short resulted in me getting way over 300mpg in the family vehicle (the fuel needle never moved). I've also been so broke that my young family and I didn't have as much as a vehicle to sleep in nor food to eat. I did not seek any relief from government's stolen booty. With faith, perseverance and a lot of hard work we made it through to more profitable times. There are thousands of mythical gods from government to nature or from materialism to extra human experiences. Why does that God allow such horrific occurrences as rape, hunger, tyranny etc. - I've tried to answer that before for you so, I think nothing short of meeting Him and asking Him personally will satisfy your quest.

Though there is no word for "god" in ancient Hebrew - "el" being redefined by outside religions and social influences. A concept of a 'god' or the word 'god' was never used in the Old Testament. It was only by translation into societies that had accepted the concept of a 'god' that the term / nomenclature enjoyed acceptance. The original relationship was between Parent and child. I can also go more into that if you like.

You obviously don't understand the difference between the 'be' and the 'do'. I guess some people make Natural Law their god, such as those that claim science, physics, etc. invented itself and there is no real intelligent design. BUT NORMALLY, natural law is the measuring device that defines the action of the being (gravity, fiscal law, etc.) You, me and each individual sovereign is responsible for defining Natural Law. Natural Law is the absolute of nature as is averse to normal religion (issues such as feeding the hungry, clothing the naked, housing the homeless, financing the indigent, etc. all fall within a religious purview). For example; Keynesian economics is more of a religion dogma and always produces ultimate economic chaos as it is averse to Natural Law's fiscal law. One reason for accounting schools is how to place structure to the absolutes of fiscal law. There are rules we follow under Natural Law; i.e., you step off a curb - your new direction will be down, back to fiscal law - if you occur more debt than you can pay back, you are bankrupt. There will be an ABSOLUTE different legal system under Natural law; freedom, liberty, justice for all, individual sovereign inalienable rights will be ordered and prosperity will abound.

+ Waffler, hate speech? Are you retarded? You're probably not, but just blindly spewing leftist talking points. You can also count on the left to scream racist when they don't have an argument. How the fuck is stating a position or an opinion hate speech? Especially in this case. He may or may not have been born in the US. One thing is for sure, his Hawaiian long form birth certificate posted on line has been proven to be a 100% fraud, by two different independent forensic labs from two different continents. Obama could have put this to rest if he had been born in the US, by providing the paper copy of the birth certificate. Instead he has spent millions in tax payers money to hide his birth and school records. If you are looking for liars and haters, look no farther than Obama.
