"The man who craves disciples and wants followers
is always more or less of a charlatan.
The man of genuine worth and insight wants to be himself;
and he wants others to be themselves, also."

Great. A true leader never makes followers. He makes leader and become leader to the leaders. It is the follower who makes follower and become a follower to the follower. Venu Bhagavan, An Indian self help author

    Funny a Hubbard that contradicts a more known Hubbard (these days), sadly. L Ron vs. Elber(t).

    I suspect that one of genuine worth & insight really wants folks (self included) to be a better self...

    Any human or divine one that "craves" disciples and wants followers meets this criteria, too, in my opinion. There is no need for the divine to crave anything -- otherwise no divinity. Craving and desire is absolutely NOT a character of divinity -- wholeness is 'holy.'

    The "A" from Reston; I agree with your general premise  BUT!  "better", is WAY to subjective. The lover of truth, individual sovereignty, inalienable rights, liberty, justice, responsibility of self and the laws of nature and of nature's God has a very  VERY!  different perception of "better" than does a socialist, otherwise collectivist or patron of the occupying statist theocracy infesting this land.
