'Contemporary Liberalism' includes both the establishment Democrats and Republicans. Too few Republicans truly represent a 'republican' form of government -- most of these government supervision programs were established under the direction of Republican presidents and Congress's. Classic liberalism has long since been abandoned by both parties, and Libertarians are considered 'kooks' by both parties.
