Reader comments about this quote:
I understand what he is trying to say and tend to want to give it an innumerable number of stars a multiple of times. Theoretically, in a land far, far away, in a distant age, individual sovereigns united were to hire servants, representatives, and others to ensure justice and secure the blessings of liberty. A limiting constitution, based on the law of nature and of nature's God, was offered to firmly affix protections to inalienable rights and the status of the noble being - the free man. The occupying statist theocracy now infesting the land negates such sentiment. The business of Amerika is now lack of business and war. The business of Amerika is injustice, compelled compliance, license, victimless crimes, larceny with impunity and securing a liberty-less tyranny and despotism.

Substitute the words US Government where he uses the word America, and you'd have a pretty accurate statement.

A good example of the ignorance of George Will.

Liberty has always been the ideal of America. Indeed, we have come a long way, but the process of liberating ourselves from the tradition of subservience to king, priest, and magistrate still continues. The original motto printed on coinage in America was 'Mind Your Business' and I think we should take heed today.

dick, OK, give us your thoughts. Archer's 'Mind Your Business' was excellent and to the point. Instead of the ad hominem, tell us the why and basis of your thoughts.

dick, please explainyour comment. How can anyone argue with this quote and then say that George Will is ignorant. It would take a mighty ignorant person to make a comment like yours.

It seems that justice is only for Obama buddies these days.

What a load of codswallop. Another totally hypocritical quote by a repeater reporter. The business of America IS WAR  just look at its history  it has dropped more bombs via Israel than they did in WWII. The very last think America is, is not fighting for Justice but to keep the almighty petrodollar. America leads the world in Arms trading and feeding the killing machine.  35 Countries Where the US Has Supported Supports Fascists Drug Lords and Terrorists.
    By Nicholas J. Davies
The ugly reality behind the mirror is that the U.S. government has a long and unbroken record of working with fascists, dictators, druglords and state sponsors of terrorism in every region of the world in its elusive but relentless quest for unchallenged global power. Behind a firewall of impunity and protection from the State Department and the CIA, U.S. clients and puppets have engaged in the worst crimes known to man, from murder and torture to coups and genocide. The trail of blood from this carnage and chaos leads directly back to the steps of the U.S. Capitol and the White House. As historian Gabriel Kolko observed in 1988, "The notion of an honest puppet is a contradiction Washington has failed to resolve anywhere in the world since 1945." What follows is a brief A to Z guide to the history of that failure. A huge amount of human suffering could be alleviated and global problems solved if the United States would make a genuine commitment to human rights and the rule of law, as opposed to one it only applies cynically and opportunistically to its enemies, but never to itself or its allies.

The above is a very conservative response to GW quote.

Hey, RBE!  Long time no hear!  I'm inclined to agree, although the intent of the Founders was independence and staying out of 'entanglements' with foreign wars.  I think you can blame the deep state and the central banks that foment war for fun and profit.  The CIA has been up to no good since its inception and is in bed with organized crime to accomplish their goals.  But I refuse to accept that America is hopelessly lost to these scoundrels.  The truth crushed to earth will rise again.

Progressive idea in that the united people of the United States of America do not represent business or war.  But we are here, more specifically, to secure our judicious rewards and wondrous liberties through our dilegent efforts and our resilient integrity.
