Good quote... but wasn't he the guy that lied to us about Pearl Harbor? Treated it as a "Complete Surprise" after being told all about it before it happened? The files are declassified...its true.

No, that was FDR, not Teddy... Good point though.

That administration also suppressed the debriefing of the calamity with regard to the radar information that was available before the attack. And our current President is making the same mistakes...

At least some presidents know true value systems (unlike King George W).
     -- Anonymous, Reston, VA US
  •
A true statement from a man that spent his non-justified presidency bringing permanent socialism (as is absolutely contrary to law, the Constitution, and the intent thereof) to the US.
     -- Mike, Norwalk

The so-called 'War on Terror', the invasion of Afghanistan and Iraq, and the Patriot Act come quickly to mind.

Mike, I think you mean FDR, don't you? I cannot recall anything socialistic of Teddy...
     -- E Archer, NYC

That was FDR you speak of ANON not Teddy. The rumor is just that, a rumor. Teddy was an inspiration and FDR was aberration. Hard to believe they were cousins.

But what about the children? Of course any kind of theft is good if only it's for the children (/sarcasm). By the way, the only fault I have found with Teddy Roosevelt is that he ran as a third party candidate and split the vote leading to the election of Democrat Woodrow Wilson. That eventually lead to the 16th amendment and the income tax and the 17th amendment that destroyed states power under federalism.

I think that Ken, Allyn, WA makes some excellent points. And if the many people that make stupid, unjustified half-truth statements would do more research and not be so thrilled to hear themselves speak, they would learn alot more about what they think they already know for fact. Check out "evil" before you make judgements. Teddy was absolutely correct, on most of his assessments. But stop twisting his words to back up your personal opinions, folks.

Ken, what was even more damaging (and we are seeing the results of it today especially) was that Wilson created the Federal Reserve, thereby turning our economic system over to a bunch of manipulative international bankers who know little or nothing about economics.

Archer, I was speaking of FDR (Mr. expediency - the evil doer who justified the killing of liberty for the more expedient socialism)
     -- Mike, Norwalk

Reston, what are those presidents who know"true value systems." Certainly not Obama or Slick Willy.
     -- jim k, austin tx

    Reston is an Obama worshiper.

Disturbing isn't it Mike, knowing the progressive party and Teddy did it. Greed with bedfellows. Corp privilege in bed with politicians perpetuated the need for more socialism injected. But considering the suffrage at his time, and industrialism taking control. Socialism was already imbedded with the property tax, and sense the civil war has steadily grown, FDR put the other nail in the coffin of liberty. Now the freedom to speak or show allegiance to our Republic and Constitution.
