of its acts are its own business, or within its own domestic jurisdiction,

so what? we hear all the time about "higher moral authority", this sounds like nothing more than fear of just that... the higher moral authority of the rest of the world.

For a nation to maintain its own actions are not subject to standards of peace relevant to all other countries is like saying an individual is subject to no laws whatsoever. It's lunacy.
     -- Dick Trice, Fort Worth

Nonsense. The US and Israel have been sanctioned by the UN more than any other country -- and neither has ever complied. The UN is the foundation for a world government -- neither a democracy or a republic, but a council of unelected bureaucrats who try to create an image of Peace while promoting mainly totalitarian regimes. As Washington warned, we should steer clear of entangling alliances with other countries. We can make our own laws -- no one from the outside can force legislation upon us -- that would be lunacy.

No where is it written that the American Empire will live forever... The US will be the international super-power for only so long - it will eventually fail like every other government that has gone before it. America has turned over her own freedom of choice to an international power - it doesn't matter if we've been heavily sanctioned in the past - there is a slippery-slope towards global rule and the United States has (and continues to) played into it. There will come a time when the United States will have to pay her dues and own up to the 'contracts' that she has signed of her own free will and choice... such is a sad reality... We can talk about keeping our own sovereignty and making our own choices as a nation all day - and, for now, we very well might be able to do that - but as things move forward, the United States will only be able to be the international bully (police force) for so long before the world has had enough. Regretfully, America is not innocent of wrong doing.

Five stars for the quote's assessment. 'Members' in the UN have indeed agreed to the principle of being censured by the whole body of the UN itself. I mean, that's the point of the UN isn't it? It's supposed that the 'United' Nations is a corollary to the 'United' States insofar as the 'United' States have formed a 'federation' whose 'laws' supersede those of the 'member states'. 'States', 'Nations', there's a fine line if any between the two.

The laws of the United States do not "supercede" the laws of the States. Each has a clearly defined constitutional jurisdiction to make the laws that are authorized. The federal government simply uses a perverted interpretation of the commerce clause to exceed its authority. That is why federal laws seem to supercede state law. The UN will naturally use some similar perverted interpretation to make national sovereignty moot.

Anonymous: Amendment X (that would be 'ten' just in case) - Powers of the States and People. Ratified 12/15/1791 - "The powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the States, are reserved to the States respectively, or to the people." || SUPERSEDE: tr.v. su·per·sed·ed, su·per·sed·ing, su·per·sedes. 1. To take the place of; REPLACE. 2. To cause to be SET ASIDE, especially to displace as inferior or antiquated. - AHD || This means obversely, that the powers DELEGATED (not 'not delegated') to the United States (the 'Union' or 'federation') SUPERSEDE those of the individual States - period. Do you have an alternate, 'perverse' interpretation in mind perhaps?

Archer and Anonymous have missed the point of this quote. He is saying that when you join the UN , you are essentially giving up your sovereignty to the UN Security Council. The UN is bad news, real bad news, and the US should send it to Venezuela or maybe Cuba.

Sadly the "legislators" only refer to the US Constitution when it suits them. The rest of the time, as GWB said..."Its just a damn piece of paper" Has the American experiment failed? I pray not. Get the UN out of everybody's country!

That was really a dumb statement... that is the purpose of the UN (a92 Nations agree). I would like to read before the … - I think David meant "Join the US". Terry, laws and behavior are two very different things - sovereignty doesn’t seem to matter with the US. Each State (Nation) is its own master until their abuse human rights and are responsible for atrocities – it’s that simple - wake up America.

A de jure U.S. could not have signed with the UN, inclusive of all its ultimate conclusions (some on the surface being noble, such as nations agreeing and world peace) For me, there is too much ground work to be laid and explination needed to rate this quote either thumbs down or 5 stars.

As a Canadian, I can attest that our troops sent on 'peace-keeping' missions were not allowed to do anything but witness the atrocities -- it is a way to keep Canada and other countries from ever actually picking a side and fighting for it (Canadians do not have control of their own military -- we go where we are told). Instead we watch women and children raped and burned with our blue helmets on. The UN is not what you think -- its power is used to 'regulate' wars, not to 'keep the peace.' I do believe the goal is to subvert each member nation's military power and to make it beholden to UN command (communist Russia commands UN troops). The UN has never backed the US in any military action, and in fact has subverted any effort to win wars in Vietnam, Korea, Iraq, anywhere. The goal is world government with a world military more powerful than any single country -- this will inevitably mean the oppression of all the world. But don't worry, wars are good business, and the UN will make sure there will always be a war somewhere in order to justify their 'peace-keeping' missions -- more like 'war-keepers' if you ask me.

We as a Republic, have a contract binding, not signed by pen and ink, but by the measure of an Oath. This, only God, can measure the compliance. Neutral naturalistic viewpoints are the notions of money changers, gangsters and thieves. Who worship the creature more than the Creator, their little ' g " god, the flow of money, regardless of who is enslaved to get it. The UN is the slime pit of slavery and socialism, Saying peace, peace when there is no peace. The Oath to our God, is more than just words. There is power in the blood !

@jim k, a world council is inevitable, so even if the UN were disbanded, another would be created, by the member countries somewhere else. It is probably better for the US that such an organization be based in the US keeping it under their control.

It should be noted that the UN is primarily an organization of the central banks of the member countries -- countries with hard currencies are considered 'neutral.' It should come as no surprise that the UN is built on Rockefeller land (previously slaughterhouses) and financed by the NYC banks (which also funded the Russian Revolution). Wars are 'regulated' by the IMF/World Bank under the auspices of the UN with the US as the enforcement arm -- which is why whenever sanctions are laid on the US or Israel, nothing happens. Without war, the very lucrative arms trading business would collapse -- and with so many more targets of undefended wealth out there, the demand is insatiable.

"The American communists worked energetically and tirelessly to lay the foundations for the United Nations which we were sure would come into existence. … It can be said, without exaggeration, that ever closer relations between our nation and the Soviet Union are an unconditional requirement for the United Nations as a world coalition. … The United Nations is the instrument for victory. Victory is required for the survival of our nation. The Soviet Union is an essential part of the United Nations. Mutual confidence between our country and the Soviet Union and joint work in the leadership of the United Nations are absolutely necessary."

    Communist Party Education Workers Congress,
We must create out of the younger generation a generation of Communists. We must turn children, who can be shaped like wax, into real, good Communists.... We must remove the children from the crude influence of their families. We must take them over and, to speak frankly, nationalize them. From the first days of their lives they will be under the healthy influence of Communist children's nurseries and schools. There they will grow up to be real Communists.
