"Men had better be without education than be educated by their rulers;
for their education is but the mere breaking in of the steer to the yoke;
the mere discipline of the hunting dog, which, by dint of severity,
is made to forego the strongest impulse of his nature, and instead of
devouring his prey, to hasten with it to the feet of his master."

    BS! Everyone teaches from their own experience. Get what you can from them and then go out on your own to a world of discovery.

    Everyone apparently is slave minded except for the judgemental Mike, look to thyself and thy mntality and education Mr. Mike. He thinks every quote is a negative comment on current "Amerika" even if it was written 300 years ago.

    This sounds a great deal like our current public, (government) schools.

    Waffler, why do you seem so offended? Every comment you've made is that its good to be a happy slave. Is it not your wish to have all people be subservient to the omnipotent oligarchy? Do you just not like the social connotation of the word slave (calling a rose by some other name). I go to give what help I can to hurricane victims, and you pay for police control. I go to court to stop unconstitutional actions, and you promote a government that usurps individual sovereignty. I point out that compelled compliance, victimless crimes, license, governmental larceny, etc. are not aspects of a free society, and you try and make light of the principles. I encourage education to include religion, philosophy, and logic, and you promote ruler's propaganda and dumbing down. I point out that those who have not read or understood history are reliving it, and you say its not applicable because it was written 300 years ago. Judgmental means I have authority to administer justice and either make everybody free or a slave. I do not have such authority or power. I'm ok that you would prefer being a slave. I would hope that you would be ok with me wanting to loosen despotic grips so that I may enjoy the full freedom and liberty afforded an individual sovereign.

    Hodgskin's point is well made and well illustrated.

    Such a true statement. Our country is moving at rocket speed into slavery and most are too enslaved to see it.

    Mike you are a slave to your own arrogance and are to small minded to think anyone knows anything. That is not being free but you is being a slave to your own ignorance.

    Excellent! (Waffler, you are the most conditioned, brain-washed person I have ever come to know -- your ignorance has no equal. This quote is about you!)

    Waffler is exhibiting classic signs of someone projecting hundred year old quotes as negative merely because even Wafflerster can see but would rather not what is going on, keep lying to yourself weak little puppy

    Kids today aren't being educated, they're being trained to conformity.
    Only the rare ones are still capable of any individual thought. It is up to thinking parents to check and correct the misrepresentations now taught as "fact". Teach you children well...or they'll end up like Waffler....

    Human nature has not changed much in 300 years. It is like the parent that tries to teach their children not to repeat their own major mistakes in life, but they don't always listen. Same thing applies here. From the past, people have 'been there done that' and try to tell us, but we don't believe it and people like Waffler say it does not apply because it is ancient history, except the consequences of not listening will affect several future generations!

    Waffler, please demonstrate your non-government open mind and define liberty, freedom, the laws of nature and of nature's God, and a representative republic that represent's individual sovereign rights (not the corporeal person) - as is averse to democracy.

    Thomas Hodgskin's argument as a socialist against the education by a ruling class applies today as public schools teach ideology to serve the socialist State.  The socialist ruling class still indoctrinates children into a system of subservience to the ruling class.

    That's what I did, Waffler.  Once I got out, the scheme became all too obvious.  What I learned on my own, shed a bright light on the indoctrination in public schools.  It is as if they have purposefully twisted History and Science to the advantage of an elite that will profit with immense power as a result.

    As for the world of discovery, that is the point  to dominate and influence a child's discovery of the world.  That is not actually learning or discovering anything, it's being given the answer.

    The real lie is that I have been given an education.  I have been given a program to follow towards an outcome preplanned by others.  In school, I was humored by many teachers for asking questions that challenged their conclusions  much like a student supporting Trump in class.  It was tolerated but not condoned.  Free-thinking was to be done off campus. ;-)
