By Coolidge's day, the definition (philosophical administration) of 'law' had so radically changed the comment really doesn't mean much. Common law (the de jure jurisdiction and application to the tangible person and property - the administration of the law of nature and of nature's God) had for all intents and purposes been done away. The philosophy of legal positivism (man being as the gods with ability to create law) reigned supreme with the sub-titles of commercial law, maritime law, statutory law, etc., etc. mingled together in a despotic cabal of unconstitutional / unlawful tyrants. Today's occupying statist theocracy infesting this land is a government of men, not a government of law which nullifies completely the here quote.

If Coolidge's comment meant, putting more emphasis on the laws of nature and of nature's God / common law and not on the observance of unconstitutional / anti-common law enforcement, I would have to rate this quote with an innumerable amount of stars an infinitesimal amount of times.

A man of few words; so much so that he was called Silent Cal. Bernie could take a page from Coolidge, Vermont's only POTUS. Bernie ( that is, Senator Bernie Sanders, who actually believes he could be President of the United States ) is counting too much on the Green Mountain State's relatively recent move to the left ( 'WAY Left !). It's his idea to spend 18 Trillion to change our Government from a Democratic Republic to, at a minimum, Socialism.

Mike, Norwalk, stated well. People seemed to forget? MAN DOES NOT MAKE NATURAL LAW. FROM WHERE OUR LIBERTY DERIVES !

Again, at "the laws of nature and nature's God" (Declaration of Independence) / common law application (individual sovereignty, inalienable rights, and liberty) the term "law enforcement" is an oxymoron. Can one enforce gravity, physics, math, life, liberty, property? The answer is a great big emphatic NO ! ! ! Only tyranny can be enforced. Observance to the occupying statist theocracy infesting this land's canons (law) is slavery. So, Coolidge's options only describe differing domains of / for enslaved chattel.

No one in the conventional arrangement appears to follow the law. The conventional arrangement spends all of their time trying to entrap the outsider into the grip of the "law enforcement."  We are in need of principled law abiding citizens.
