My, how times have changed. Translated, I think this means that you best keep junior and little Barbie out of government schools. Mark Twain must have been talking about public schools when he said that he never let schooling interfere with his education.

The Democrats that originated this quote must be spinning in their graves with all the damage the Democrats have done to our education system.

Great quote. To follow it we should stop forcing children to acknowledge Divinity in the Pledge with the words "under God". This is a fascist construction instituted by the McCarthy era Republicans. God only wants volunteers to his cause not goose stepping right wing fascists.

Reston must have a had a tough childhood. There are good parents and bad parents as well as good government and bad government. The government's authority comes from the parents, so it is dangerous to give up one's responsibility to the state because it rarely comes back. Being a ward of the state may be better than living in an abusive home, but it is not better than living in a good home. Just like government schooling, those that excel are forced to slow down to the lowest common denominator. This quote reflects the 'classical liberal' view of the times -- of course, now 'liberal' has become a code word for socialist.

Fascists intend to remove god from the public arena. They are Darwinists now and have always been. As good old Adolph was. Darwinism is what was the source of the reasoning for the holocaust. Waffler you are a bright guy but you need to get educated on this stuff. I was not aware that the Dems ever had any convictions not purely self serving. The founder of the modern Dem party started with the philosophy that any one can be bought. Things haven't changed.

Warren the Democrat Party was historically the party of the big tent and the little man. It was a broad based party whose philosophy generally ran counter to the big money whigs of the North and East. The 18th century Democrats were mostly from the south and the west. The Republicans were the narrow, self interest and one tracked party starting with the single issue of slavery and then after the war becoming the party of money replacing the whigs. You can't categorize Hitler. He was a mad man, uneducated gutter politician who learned as a young man that he had a power of oratory which would spell bind an audience. The NAZI's put him up to it and they learned that Adolph would say anyting and say it well. I told a German friend of mine however that, "Hitler used the German people." My friend said, "No, no the German people used Hitler." Some say (most recently a German Nobel prize novelist) that their was and maybe still is an evil in the German soul and this as well as 2000 years of erroneous Catholic teaching about Jews being Christ killers is what led to the holocaust, Darwinism may have helped as well as Nietsche and the bibical researchers at the University of Tubingen in the mid 1800's.

Waffler, by big tent, did you mean the Democrat tent of the white supremacist (starting the KKK) or that big Democrat tent that made everybody slaves of the government ? By your rant, you never disappointed in your "Progressive" bigotry. Hitler categorized himself as a corporatist of fascist - one end of socialism's administrative stick. The Democratic National Platform has moved from favoring Hitler dogma to Lenin's. Neither the Republican or Democratic Parties favor liberty or a constitutional representative republic and natural law.

Smoke screens and mirrors, Hiding behind corporate privilege. Neither side wishing to give up the robbery and plunder of the free born sovereign individual. The God given law of Liberty. We are endowed by our Creator ! We build it, they steal it ! The lawlessness instilled under state control and manipulation. The fight does come !

Waffler, why don't we just let the states, local school boards and PTA's decide what the curriculum is.

That was then! Today: its  propaganda and indoctrination ..ask a young person to do a small new thing and many wait for instructions, rather than being able to 'tackle it' or figure it out. Antifa youth and BLM people have been educated at federal public schools...and they don't think beyond what they are doing until someone tells them what to do next. Ask a teen or young adult questions about individual liberty and many don't have an answer. Federal education TODAY is abhorrent. Home schoolers must often follow the federal guidelines to maintain homeschooling status. And with technocracy now in charge of education, one must fear for the little freedoms left to the individual. The quote itself is upstanding.

Freed slaves became Republicans.  The Republicans freed the slaves, the Democrats enslaved them and did everything they could to keep sovereignty out of Black hands.  Once the federal protection was removed from the South after Reconstruction, Jim Crow swept in  by Democrats.  The Democrats are the party of denial of black greatness  they consider blacks to be forever incapable of attaining self-sufficiency, or even on par with whites. They ignore all the famous and successful blacks in American history or consider them traitors to their race.  They are slavers still.
