A true American sentiment -- where is it today? I suppose most of us just want a nice stable and someone to groom us while others are condemned to a life as a beast of burden, yoked and tied.

    Amen again. Most residents of this country just want someone (the government) to be responsible for them their whole lives, while blaming someone else (those evil corporations that provide all those cheap goods, or some other group) for their stupidity, laziness and bad judgement.

    One evil is government. Another is the media. Look at Al Gore wrongly persuading the government to spend billions of our tax dollars on projects that will yield no benefit. It is in the complicit interest of the media to scream "global warming" rather than "natural cycle" since disaster yields higher profits and ratings. Future generations will think what fools we are to be swayed by emotional hysteria.

    Richard Rumbold, Cromwellian, parliamentarian and officer in the new model army who was executed in 1695 for his part in the Rye House conspiracy to overthrow James the 2nd said prior to his execution: "I may say this is a deluded generation, veiled with ignorance, that tho popery and slavery be riding in upon them, do not perceive it, though I am sure there was no man born marked of God above another, for no one comes into this world with a saddle on his back, neither any booted and spurred to ride him" Think Mr Jefferson may have recycled this one.

    Wait, this was said by a slave owner? I love all that he did for us an hold him in very high esteem, but it’s hard to hear that quote and not see irony.

    Said by our Agrarian Representative. favoring not slavery but the yoeman small farmer, Coming from an old line of planters, the sentiment felt by most, all should be free. 7% of the population owned slaves, of course that does not take into account slaves held by first nation peoples. That fact that man was not born with a saddle on his back is the very point to form a Freewill association of fellow Patriots at Liberty. The yoke of necessity needs no extra burden. Therefore direct "income tax, property tax,directly upon a non-privileged freeborn sovereign individual citizen residing within any state of the Union is nullified through breach of contract, with, We the People. The excise tax, properly used will furnish needed funds. Yet non-resident alien individuals, foreign corporations exc... will bear the burden and release/return Liberty to the sovereign individual Patriot/Citizen. The purpose for a new union was a small government without a boot on your neck. Now it is time for local, state and federal bureaus to cut the staff and tighten the belts. Stop wanting more and spend less. We the People are tired of putting servants on horses, then they ride away as kings. Revoke the FEDS Charter, if thats what it takes. This is an ERA of change, to what degree is yet to be seen. But there is an agenda.

    SCSURFR, Jefferson inherited his slaves with mortgages, as they were considered property. Jefferson could not free his slaves unless the debts were paid. Had the Continental Congress kept the anti-slavery clause in the Declaration of Independence that Jefferson wrote, Jefferson's slaves would have been freed.
