Tell that to the homeowners in New Orleans who were taken out of their homes, hands bound, while FEMA searched their houses for guns. After confiscating their lawful weapons they were released to defend their property with nothing. Apparently during an emergency our rights do not exist (for our own protection, no doubt). Justice Joseph Story couldn't have conceived of today's runaway police and intelligence (what an oxymoron) agencies. To his credit, he does only refer to the fourth amendment in terms of "Its plain object" and not our nation's adherence to that object.  -- anonymous
