"Most Americans aren't the sort of citizens
the Founding Fathers expected; they are contented serfs.
Far from being active critics of government,
they assume that its might makes it right."

I wish I could double the stated sentiment. The socialist and fascist dogs fight over the mighty democratic oligarchy's ill gotten booty. Once the U.S. founders were told they didn't have the same rights as Englanders because of the place of their national origin. And, of course that was true because the king had at his disposal the mightiest war machine on the planet. Those measly colonists believed all rights derived from God, making each individual equal with all humanity, inclusive of the king, in rights. Today, copying a page out of Hitlar's journal; first, coming to power fain claiming an association to Christianity, then a national disaster, then focusing hatred toward a specific people, then broadening the scope of concern to all non-nationals (they not having the same rights as the mighty). Most Americans are content serf’s to the socialist / fascist mighty task master, preferring to live by their master's rules and codes while only superficially criticizing the mighty, rather than living by Constitutional law and order, condemning those who would claim their noble birthright. A statement by Samuel Adams comes to mind: "If ye love wealth greater than liberty, the tranquility of servitude better than the animating contest for freedom, go home and leave us in peace. We seek not your counsel nor your arms. Crouch down and lick the hand that feeds you, and may posterity forget that ye were our countryman."

So sadly true - we are apathetic, an uninformed elective, and consequently on the road to totalitarianism and what ever form that may take.

The US government runs amuck with barely any Constitutional safeguards being observed. The Sheeple have been branded and herded for their own safety and 'terrorized' by their own government, kept in a constant state of emergency and fear, all the while being conditioned to yell at their TV sets "Bomb 'em! Bomb 'em". I always wondered how Germans could have let Hilter come to such power -- now I can see for myself first hand the tools of a despot. Will enough Americans wake up in time though?

I do not think they are content, though they are serfs. Plenty complain out loud or to themselves. Plenty disagree with policy and practice. I think they just can't agree about how to reform the status quo.

Well thought out, apathy is the root of all evil's enabling. I am not sure most Americans refuse to speak, get denied, mostly by nationalist press and government they also refuse to raise arms against; none the less the point remains.

Sad but true. So many take freedom for granted.
