"Freedom of men under government is to have a standing rule to live by,
common to every one of that society and made by the legislative power
vested in it and not to be subject to the inconstant, uncertain,
arbitrary will of another man."

Would that we will ever achieve this, rather than the reality that has existed throughout our history... that the robber barron has always had their own rules, separate from those which they impose upon their slaves... look who they have serving (and dying) in our latest unjust war (against nothing more than those who would dare to have a religion which differs from the robber barron's dirty henchmen's).

I'd like to 'AMEN' Locke's statement. Just because Anonymous claims to be an ignoramus by his opinions, doesn't mean he is one; the same as the US's administering war mongers are not what they claim to be.

A nice thought, easier said than done. Judges and executives like to make law. Legislators like to pander. The Congress will argue about anything, except about the immense automatic pay raise given every year to the Congress by the Congress. And Congress is immune from many laws.

Can anyone say, "Affirmative Action?" Everyone is equal, but some are more equal than others.

"Of all tyrannies, a tyranny exercised for the good of its' victims, may be the most oppressive. It would be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. But those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with approval of their own conscience." -- C.S. Lewis.
