"The government will make use of these powers only insofar as they are essential for carrying out vitally necessary measures.... The separate existence of the federal states will not be done away.... The number of cases in which an internal necessity exists for having recourse to such law is in itself a limited one."

Adolf Hitler
(1889-1945) German Nazi Dictator
Source:
attempting to allay the people's fears over the Reichstag's centralization of law enforcement with the passage of the "Enabling Act" on March 23, 1933; (Historian William Shirer attributes this Enabling Act alone as the legal basis for Hitler's dictatorship).

Here again we should objectively ask ourselves; Why would a government pass laws it "doesn't" intend to use? Think Patriot Act / NDAA. 5 stars for the historical reference.

5 stars for J's question, not for Hitler.

Sounds like Reagen and Roe v. Wade. How did that go? In Canada we just give people their rights (ie Charter of Rights Freedoms) and we don't take it away. We actualy beliieve in freedom and you can go to hell. Try to invade us again.

Wow! What a completely ugly and juvenile post from Edmonton. Thankfully that is not a reflection of Canadian sentiment, just one ugly individual spouting off. (BTW The Charter is an absolute joke, it's a lot of fluff and no substance)

You cannot know your history unless it has been stripped of all lies and political correctness. With the truth fully exposed: a. It is downright ugly b. You can now understand the issue c. You are now ready to prevent any more "repeats" of bad history

I'm not sure how to rate this - maybe five stars for the totalitarian implementation or a thumbs down for the global application and loss of liberty. As per history being changed to support tyranny, look no closer than the fabrications being pushed about what caused the War between the States. Just ONE example being left out of the narrative by the separate federal State is about income tax. Larger than the slave issue was that the Northerners were trying to centralize more and more power into the nationalist government. One of the concerned issues under the centralization umbrella (by itself, larger than the slave issue) was the Socialists from the North wanted to change the meaning of such words as excise, capitation and head tax. When the Southern States left, Lincoln implemented the new definitions and put in place an income tax (complete with new definitions).

The foremost faculty of ideological absolutists, of all stripes, is their unholy ability to maximally capitalize upon - in their zealous efforts to aggrandize and capitalize themselves ( e.g. B. & M. Obama, B. Sanders, N. Pelosi, A. Sharpton et al, ad infinitum) - the constitutional character frailties (pride, fear and envy, particularly) of those souls hapless enough to allow themselves to be beguiled by them.

We have perfect examples of how a nation's laws can be used to transform a federation of sovereign states into vassal states and a citizenry subject to the dictates of the head of state. These rackets are well known among the ruling class. Study how Germany became a fascist democracy (with lifetime terms) -- has any of the same happened in the US? ;-)

Seriously, the steady march continues because the system has been corrupted to funnel power to the ruling class. The trick is to get the populace to demand their own dependency and to make them volunteers in the army against a common enemy to blame. False flags, propaganda, secret police, paid agitators, and straight-up assassinations are the tools of SOCIALISM. Millions upon millions have been murdered by socialists -- learn your history. 'Temporary' emergency powers are the foot in the door -- just look at the Patriot Act, still in effect, renewed every October. This act authorizes holding anyone without charge indefinitely if an 'authority' suspects a possible 'terrorist' connection. And as those who objected warned, labeling someone a terrorist arbitrarily has become common practice.

The fascist loves the police and the socialist loves the psychologist. Neither really love the common people unless they follow 'the program'.
