Unless, of course, the pursuit of knowledge happens to lead to rhe conclusion that global warming is a gigantic hoax and Al Gore is a con man.

Careful jim k, you don't want to offend a faith based religion! lol

Small minds however are often incapable of digesting the knowledge they find... poor jim...

The J's (JC and JK) are fascinating enigmas. They give the quote five stars and then directly contradict its dictum or sentiment. They give it five stars and then say in effect that they are not free or they do not value the pursuit of knowledge. I truly have felt that they are not free all along but now they have admitted it. JC and JK you have at least made the admission or confession that you are not free and that is a start to becoming an AWARE and open minded person. Now if you can get Mike of Norwalk to wake up we will have made some real progress on this site. This is a great day, a great day indeed, EUREKA!

Good quote, but Adlai's pursuit led him down the tubes twice while running for the presidency.
     -- cal, lewisville, tx

You are correct Cal. Many people can not relate to an intellectual. Adlai came off that way and Al Gore is one. thus we have J Carlton's and Jim K's dilemma in a nut shell but sometimes we should even give intellectuals and people who know stuff a major break.

Waffler truly believes he is an intellectual. ;-) Gee, that Funk and Wagnalls and government schooling sure opened his eyes. I guess those with years of study in meteorology and cosmological sciences are the dunces. The fact remains that the Earth has been warming since the last Ice Age, and by all scientific accounts will return again as scientists have proven happens every 14,000 years or so. Those that study the Sun have told us that the Earth's temperature is affected most by sun spots (solar flares) and that the warmest temperatures on Earth are during maximum sun spot activity. Since 2009 is a year in which there is zero sun spot activity, scientists predicted a very cool year -- indeed, summer was chilly, no hurricanes (which thrive on heat) and one of the bitterest winters on record. Loyalty to political party BS is not science. Just consider the solutions being proposed: global taxation authority. Wake up, ignorant fools.

Waffler, thank you, I needed a good laugh today. The J's (JC and JK) did not contradict them selves but rather, their comments went to the statist theocracy's ever vigilant freedom reduction activities, including pursuits of knowledge (by way of example, - mine- all state and federal law libraries discarding legal print predating 1954 and, - theirs - the pursuit of knowledge being abstructed concerning global warming when criminal activity is actively enforcing lies through governments, lecturing circuits, and their tabloid media complexes). Your perception is but another example of schizophrenia in action and, a borg collectives' inabilities. Thanks for thinking of me and keeping me in the loop.

Indeed! we must be open to contrary opinion, to other beliefs, other ideologies, and other ways, only then can knowledge enter the gates to understanding and Self. If you wish knowledge don't sing with the choir. RBE " Through zeal, knowledge is gotten; through lack of zeal, knowledge is lost; let a man who knows the double path of gain and loss thus place himself that knowledge may grow." -- Buddha (563-483 BC )

Waffler you are truly an a twisted idiot. It is the pursuit of knowlege that leads one AWAY from the Church of Gore and AWAY from HopeyChangey's socialist theocracy... Good Lord, are you on something? Why would you even venture onto a Liberty Site...its a concept completely lost on you.
     -- J Carlton, Calgary

Waffler, you did it again ... "JC and JK you have at least made the admission or confession that you are not free and that is a start to becoming an AWARE and open minded person." Firstly, they made no such admission ... secondly, how on earth do you equate being "not free" with becoming an "AWARE and open minded person." This quote is almost as good as another of yours from the ninth of this month regarding Cockrum vs State when you posted “The only obvious solution is that we are not to defend self from or against state but to submit.” You never fail to puzzle me by your "Waffled logic" and "Waffled conclusions." Poor, poor soul. How can you ever explain your convoluted thinking? Five stars for the quote and five stars for Waffler's entertainment value.

Robert, good job, you're on a roll today

Thank You zeitgeist, that explains this particular schizophrenia very well. Best, J

zeitgeist, you articulate well, you should join in more.
