How common, blame your own human weakness upon supernatural entities...

I had liberty until i went into military service-where i lost all liberty, but they did grant me some liberties.

Anonymous, great point. The quote more addresses the source of a principle rather than a choice of tangible or lawful applications. Each individual is his own master of choice. To chose liberty or otherwise is a personal character trait.

God gave all liberty, Satan takes it by convincing you your liberties are the most important thing, and to hell with everyone or anything that stands in the way of doing what YOU want to do. That philosophy never ends well.

I like it. Reston, it is possible to put 'God' and the 'devil' in context without subscribing to supernatural superstition.

No comment! Neither God or the Devil exist if they did it would be an oxymoron

Liberty is from good or doing the right thing, liberties, are from doing the wrong thing, knowingly or not. It is from the unknowing, or uneducated part of society that we suffer and the greater part of society is brainwashed or brain dead to any line of thought other than what theyv'e been taught from the day of birth through biased government agencies whose job it is to make sure what one grows into and is steered toward the idea that government is good when it's big, and is necessarily so for an infinite number of reasons and this is one of the first lines of defense in supporting their misunderstood theory of evolution. So with the modern day religions who say its my way or the highway and one is doomed if they are not enrolled in one particular sect or a particular secular group of people. I can only say is that Adam didn't get it when he was actually in contact with his creator, then Israel didn't get it when the inspirational old testament came into being and the third time they ignored the message is when Jesus left it. All but a young country who created the great American experiment to see if mankind in general could care for themselves and their own without the interference of tyrannical government in their lives. Now it's going through the crash and burn stages needed to complete its merge into the new world order with as little pain as possible.

The quote is simple, but profound.

Wayne ... no hi-falutin' ego-pronouncements from you ... just a simple observation. So many apparently NEED to expound on THEIR theories of the original, which as you observe, is profound.
