A representative republic of natural law defines greatness. Individual sovereignty with inalienable rights defines greatness. A land of true liberty defines greatness. A body politic that does not participate in compelled compliance, license, victimless crimes, larceny with impunity (life, income, property tax, funny money) continual war (domestically and foreign), insurance (ponzi schemes, health, etc.) and activities reserved for religion defines greatness. On a global scale, power is fronted for and as greatness (there is no great nation on the planet today).

Not just politicians, but Americans in general. Try being on the other end of that stick -- no so 'great'...

I agree Archer; greatness has not only been confused for power but, inalienable rights have been confused for a statist's enforced definition of good, law has been confused for tyranny's legal positivism and virtue / morality have been confused for immediate gratification of lustful desires. Is there any doubt in the reason for decline ? Only for those that are confused.
