Those 'minorities' have often been cast as radicals or rebels, even terrorists, but in time they have been duly recognized as Freedom Fighters. Now, of course, they are called anti-Americans or traitors and persecuted under the so-called Patriot Act (which, of course, was penned by the real traitors to the Republic).

At all times sincere friends of freedom have been rare, and its triumphs have been due to minorities, that have prevailed by associating themselves with auxiliaries whose objects differed from their own; and this association which is always dangerous, has been sometimes disastrous, by giving to opponents just grounds of opposition. Lord Acton.

The one pervading evil of democracy is tyranny of the majority, or rather of that party, not always the majority, that succeeds, by force or fraud, in carrying elections.

As with many in authority today sanctioning the worst of crimes, they should be hung higher than Haman. For those that would know who Haman was, as with their family.

In the world of 'might makes right' majorities do not have to concern themselves with freedom, but with power. Minorities not having enough power to dominate, are naturally unable to break the majority's hold over them -- "Freedom!" they cry. But once 'free' to oppress others, many eagerly bully the weaker just as they were bullied.

Freedom starts with the individual, and often with the words, "No more!" ;-)
