True. Deer and other wild life know this best when they try to cross the new roads. Otherwise this is a great quote for a dynamite talking point. So what are the tradeoffs, when are the possibilities better than the restrictions? The possibilities of liberty tree quotes to foster intelligent interacton are great but the restrictions of the medium are also great.

We must use our robots wisely. If we free humanity from its manual labors, it must be for reasons other than sloth, greed, gluttony, wrath, despair, acedia, or lust.

We must advance ourselves in science, but remember that this gives BIG BROTHER more tools to spy on us.

Absolutely true when including certain science developments such as cloning for food or otherwise or, giving patents to corporations for their non-reproducing seeds while restricting farmers from keeping their own reproducing seed lot. A very scary proposition when freedoms are given up or restricted for new possibilities of a supposed or imposed security.

Our lives have been planned already for us -- our birth, our quality of life, the institutions we must attend, the drugs we must ingest, the hours we must work to pay our 'share,' how long we are allowed to live, what we will pay when we die. We are permitted to think about living our lives our own way, just not permitted to actually do it. Anyone who dares to try and escape is hunted down by the other prisoners as a 'criminal.' It is criminal to break free from the ruling class -- always has been. 'Progressives' are communist stooges that would prefer to rivet the chains on the necks of their fellow sufferers rather than permit some to prosper without them. Prisoners on death row are not allowed to kill themselves.

Progressives only give us the possibility of future restrictions. They don't have much else to offer (unless you're one of the chosen few of course).

Archer is forever the victim. We have numerous millionaires and billionaries in this country and the world. Numerous happy well adjusted people. Obviously Archer hangs with the wrong crowd and attempts to bring others into his weird world of schizo depressed victimhood.

Waffler, interesting how you so often equate Liberty with Power (i.e. wealth). So if someone is a billionaire, then that is proof that life is good for all? That the billionaire is what we are supposed to shoot for? It is not surprising that you don't get most of the principles being expressed on this blog.
