“While they promise them liberty, they themselves are the servants of corruption: for of whom a man is overcome, of the same is he brought in bondage. ” (2 Peter 2:19) “Therefore thus saith the Lord; Ye have not hearkened unto me, in proclaiming liberty, every one to his brother, and every man to his neighbour:” (Jeremiah 34:17)

Freedom is not a proclamation or declaration, but an earned certification in its infinite variation. Freedom grows, matures, and develops as the life dimension itself grows, matures, and develops.  Posterity will feel sympathy for our era's confinement. Nevertheless  we are more free than we were before.  Would not the emperor Caeser himself envy today's "middle class" city employee and their contemporary conveniences. We as a species continue to earn our way through the confines of the natural environment.  Caesar could not proclaim fly the skys, we as a species had to earn and disseminate the understanding on to build a vehicle that could fly. Earn it.

You are confusing Freedom with Power, Fred (as most atheistic socialists do...)
