magnificent thought if it were only realistic, even a minority of the time.

A fault in his day might have been drastically different to what we would consider a fault today. I believe he really meant that honesty is the best policy.

Just learn, and be modest and be honest and you will be loved

I think this is true. Doesn't every one love a clown and have tender feelings towards abum but walk into a place dressed to the nines, look sharp and act educated and erudite and everyone hates you. Be careful not to elicit jealousy from others. Some find happiness from making every one jealous. Is it better to be envied than loved?

I think he meant what he said. If Americans could embrace such a notion, perhaps we wouldn't elect plastic people into office (i.e. those who spend most of their time covering their ass and creating an 'image'). Why do Americans prefer a clean 'act' rather than a real person who isn't afraid to admit that they DID inhale (just like the majority of Americans).

Some Americans want to appear that they are going along with the "in crowd" or their peers and fake inhaling because they also feel it is an affront to their mothers and fathers and to God. Have you never seen some young smokers who only hold the smoke in their mouths? If the man says he did not inhale I believe he did not inhale. I think it is libelous to say a majority of Americans inhale dope.

Waffler, please rate the quote only once. Again, this is not a debate -- comment on the quote not others' comments. Thank you.
