"The requirement of 'due process'
is not a fairweather or timid assurance.
It must be respected in periods
of calm and in times of trouble;
it protects aliens as well as citizens."

But what about "illegal" aliens?

We sure are giving a lot of due process to the guys in Gitmo. Almost eight years worth now. Good for us and for due process. If the tables were turned our guys heads would have rolled long ago.

ahh yes, the way it should be, the law of nature and of nature's God and Creator endowed rights are everywhere and for each and every, any and all. The alien despot that now infests this land, only allows 'due process', and 'equal protection of the law' when it is convenient and suits its purpose.

Well now that we have an NGO such as Homeland Security (KGB?)...due process and civil rights are right out the window. Welcome to the new USSA.

Due process should be given to illegal aliens. If they are found guilty they should recieve swift justice, applied even-handedly. Unlawful combatants are another story. The U.S. gov't shouldn't be taking them from their country of origin and should be turning them over to local authorites when done interrogationg them. I hope Obama does the right thing and sends those people back to their native countries where they can find swift justice.

All human beings deserve their human rights, no matter how we feel about them as individuals, for to do otherwise is for us to be no more than a pack of animals.

Tx did it again... tell this to our government who only respect due process when its to their advantage. "Change you can believe in" will never again be said with any sincerity. It so sad when good words get turn into papier mache. Come back Ron ("if" great speech) and Ralph all is forgiven. Perhaps a third party is our only savior from our spiraling into oblivion. I give Reston and Felix five stars

Yes, even 'illegal' aliens have a right to due process -- the determination of the legality of an alien is also subject to due process. Many Gitmo detainees are held without charge, and none have even used the court room there. If they are prisoners of war, then it falls within military law which has its own rules for due process. Many American detainees are held without charge in American jails if the arresting officers label them as potential terrorists. The IRS seizes property without any due process. The War on Drugs has circumvented most due process. The right to habeas corpus has NOT been reinstated under Obama... it was bad enough when Bush took away this fundamental right, but to have Obama continue this blatant abuse of executive power is yet another indication that Obama is nothing but a figure head and the tool of fascism in the US.

Well, at least it used to in sporadic fits of sanity.

Ah yes, let's have all the due process we can muster for the same illegal alien gate crasher for the ump-teenth time.
Believe me you wouldn't be so tolerant if you came downstairs in the morning to find a group of people broke into your house eating your families food and stealing your stuff (tax dollars providing all kinds of social services) you would treat these people for what they are, criminal trespassers!

"Due process, send them all home !" -

"you would treat these people for what they are, criminal trespassers!" -

Those are the exact sentiments of Native Americans.

It does seem hard to coexist at times. There is a difference between ( Stand with ) or push over and take away. The welfare state is easily manipulated, knowing it is a blood line to a steady check, from the mass. Socialism at its best. Made available for emigrational movement of overburden on our Republic. And the pushing over of the Free born individual sovereign. My blood tells me I am indigenous to this planet and am allowed to rebel against oppression. Period !

Not sure about this one either.  True due process is, if you fuck with my life, liberty, or property, you get a bullet in the head.  That is the definition of it.
