Try to get to the island of "justice" without crossing the bridge. Swim the channel and you may be eaten by sharks. Kayaking will get you there tired and wet, but first you must learn to build a boat. Not only do lawers operate the toll bridge, it is the only viable way to the island. Concerning any corrupt system (a government of men as is averse to a government of law, the occupying statist theocracy infesting this land as but one illustration of corruption), the quote touches on a string of accuracy that weaves itself through the fabric that is today's politically correct reality. Senor Reek and Joe's comments touch on the matter. watchman 13, your statement is a poetic philosophy of academia for religious provocations but, has nothing to do with "law" or the de jure 'natural law' jurisprudence of a once republic of individual sovereigns. As to, what law "IS"; most simply, law describes that which "IS". For example: gravity. An apple falls from a tree - each and every time, consistently; i.e. the law of gravity. Your reference to the Greek nomos (convention), averse to physis (a carnally ascertained nature of) are inventions of man for philosophical administration purposes. The 'law', in and of itself, has no ostensible aim to restrain the evil tendencies of man, in his fallen state or otherwise (law enforcement is an oxymoron). It is justice that is called upon when a law is infringed. Carnal man's harsh enactment of what he so-calls justice is often used as a restraint. In experience, law finds itself consistently effective (for example: by way of nomos and/or physis, man may revoke gravity but, to no avail. Even with Platonic amendments to 'nomos', by reason and otherwise, the entire related philosophical field ultimately remains an endeavor of academia - only relative to the class room (or tyranny when applied to governments of men). My earlier reference to a government of men (nomos / physis, etc.) vs. a government of law is the difference between despotism / tyranny and liberty. Man's philosophies are always subject to the ever effective 'law". "Law" does not provoke any tendency to a greater activity. Law merely defines the activity. Mr. Norwalk I thank you always for your candor. I greatly appreciate your insight. Because of a lack of knowledge among the people judgment is impaired. Law is like gravity and so is justification before the Court and God. The Supreme Judge who over sees all the Throne of judgment. The law is for the lawless not for the just. The powers that be are ordained of God. Condemn the wicked justify the righteous is required. Dishonesty among lawyers and judges by your personal observations spoken of, show the tendency to create a greater activity of corruption with in the government.
