The verse quoted by Christ wherein he declared that he was the anointed one, or "Messiah." As a side note, I have often been very saddened, as I have read accounts of what men have done in the name of Christ. As a Christian, I can think of nothing more devilish than to see what men have done in the name of the Lord, while defiling his very word and his holy name.  -- Logan, Memphis, TN

I believe the main emphases here, referencing liberty and freedom, concerns iniquity, sin, and transgression (iniquity, sin, and transgression were distinct and separate understandings, defining different acts or classifications of acts under ancient Hebrew jurisprudence) but, the verse's broader scope is all inclusive of each and every captive and prisoner. The vast majority of the Constitution came directly from principles set forth in the Bible. I hope that at this time of the season everyone finds themselves warm and prosperous. Such hypocrisy - a terrible fairy tale that has caused nothing but horror and misery. Our founding Fathers understood and wrote into the Constitution a secular philosophy - alas we do not believe in our own making. Take care all and have a wonderful Holiday - It was a pagan festival long before 2000 years ago - it is also the festival of 23 other Gods. RobertSRQ says "nothing but horror and misery" which shows his balance. Aside from the endless arguments he would pose(already answered many times), he dismisses a belief system that captures the minds and makes converts of many of the best in science and other disciplines. Oh that they were as wise and knowledgeable as Robert, who knows all and need not be charitable to those of us who disagree with him after our own lifelong studies. As to the "horror and misery" he speaks of, the bodies of those who died from atheism in the 20th century alone outnumber all before and since who have died from religious perversities. This is the kind of hypocritical presumptuousness, unmitigated effrontery, audacity and just plain gall, or chutzpa, that has defined Judaism, and later, Christianity, for thousands of years and still does. Jack, you, Robert and Darth must have fascinating stories on the road to the dark side ;-). One only needs remember Hitler in his vain claim of being a Christian to get to the top. Once there, he pursued his utopian atheistic/socialism by killing at least 6 million Jews and 10 million Christians (he couldn't have any competing religions/philosophies around - or is anyone here a real believer with the religionists of Iran?). Of course Hitler was only a babe in the woods when compared to Mao's and Stalin's atheistic pursuits. To the question "How do they die"; the answer is by giving up the ghost. Sometimes they die by gas chambers, furnaces, creative means of torture, bullets, etc., etc., etc. Those pursuing atheism with a religious fervor killed all those that they perceived to have competing religions, philosophies or a belief system that does not recognize the atheist state as the ultimate god. When traveling once a month for 2 years on my own dime with fellow church members to help rebuild New Orleans after Katrina, I've seen other church groups helping but no atheists (hmmm - maybe the answer is steal more of the noble laborer's fruit so a certain few politicians can line their pockets) As to Robert's half truths and prejudicial exclusion of all the facts as to the history he refers to, there may be another time I can explain it to him. Thank you Jack and Robert for continuing to give comments, we all learn when we hear other opinions. To those of us who continue to be the brunt of name calling, inaccurate history recreation, and hateful legislation, as with the Christ that we worship, we wish all 'love, joy, and prosperity.
