By the time Smith was politicking, the foundation of the laws of nature and of nature's God had long since been replaced by socialism's anti-freedom/liberty legal positivism. The Constitution's de jure application was to limit Government's administrations to a very narrow scope of life (murder) liberty (The power of acting as one thinks fit, without any restraint or control, except from the laws of nature. (Bouviers Law Dictionary)) and property (perfected allodium, larceny, etc.) as it concerned the individual sovereigns' inalienable rights. Smith's non-sympathy did not rise to the level of addressing de jure Constitutional issues at law but rather, the gods' of legal positivism's tyranny by emotion (the Constitution was perverted to control We The People). It is the right of each and every sovereign (individually or united) to oppose any and all tools / tool handlers that violate his/their inalienable right(s) AT LAW.

    Amen, Mike. It is our responsibility to revolt. If you hold liberty dear, let the fires burn within the hearts and minds of the true patriots. Breaking the laws of nature and of natures God comes with consequences. Though not always speedily in our eyes. But now is the time for ( We the People ) to stand and fight, for Liberty and Freedom once again upon our own soil.

    Mike, you are a real stickler for the misuse of the word 'law.' ;-) Substitute 'law' with 'legislation' and you would have to agree that we do have the right to organize in opposition to any governmental decree. But of course, there could be a Million Man March To Ban Gravity, but it would not change the natural 'law' one iota. Mike, I think you are going against the tide on trying to get people to use the word 'law' only for natural law or common law. Colorable law, statutory law, commercial law, admiralty law, maritime law, canonical law -- they are all 'laws' even though none are natural law. The word Law has many applications, and can mean anything a lawyer, minister or magistrate says it is.

    The moral code of natural law based upon sound reason. I think Hamilton had it right. Stay out of the spin room, you just go round and round. The lesser of two evils, a tax base, based upon corp business rather than the individual born free sovereign. Honesty in leadership with a steely resolve.
