1913 brought the trifecta of devastation to the US. (1st) The 16th amendment was for the purposes of fully implementing socialism, enslaving a once free people and mandating value to (2nd) the unconstitutional 1913 induction of Federal Reserve with its funny money (debt); and, (3rd) Social Security to create socialism's welfare state and a further value added mandate to the international banker's new funny money (debt). Federal Aid is an illegitimate child of the statist theocracy that infests this land.

The income tax and civil rights laws have given the federal government unlimited power. What they can not legislate they will get through the courts.

If you can find it, read "The Income Tax, Root of all Evil ". Written a while back and still true. Probably available on Amazon.

I think this is absolutely true! Steal from those who oppose you and give to those that support you -- of course, take a piece of the action along the way, too... The 16th Amendment was not lawfully ratified. If there is a doubt, let's just propose it again and see what the outcome would be. I wonder, Reston, how did Americans survive before without income tax and social security? Hundreds of years, Americans/colonists survived without such a corruption. the only reason we even have such things is because of the Federal Reserve Act replacing real money with interest-bearing script. There was a short boom (1920s) then bust (1930s). It was inevitable and dare-I-say planned. We have had nothing but booms and busts ever since, each time the creditors confiscating another chunk of the wealth and property of the People -- particularly the poor, my friend, which all these programs were supposed to protect. And look where we are today -- being crushed by an ever-growing unpayable debt. The lefties think they are beating capitalism, when in fact they are guaranteeing that the money monopoly will forever remain in the uber-rich's hands. Don't be a fool.

I'm not sure exactly how "original" it was? These ideas of continual taxation were already being used in europe. I might say that, more of an "original sin"? Was the Federal Reserve bank and it's charter to those bankers. Those who have been priming the pump ever since, in relative obscurity and anonymity.

Funny! Corporations only pay about 5% tax (some don't pay any tax) while they ship our jobs abroad and make billions off the consumer who the government then tax's at 25% or above. Then on top of that you pay property tax and purchase tax on almost everything. Our tax dollars support the war machine and federal government (they are now the best jobs). Sooner or later most will be employed by the federal government (in one way or another) and then it will be too late to correct.

A standing army of tax collectors with unlimited power over us can not be a "just" thing. I wonder what the Founding Fathers would have done? Hmmm....

I understand that the nation is now less in debt than we were at the end of WWII. So what is this guy talking about. Look around you we are very very wealthy. The wealth simply needs to be properly allocated to pay off that national debt then taxes should be cut.

Waffler, you understand wrong. The US Dollar is about to collapse. Most of us are getting ready for that.

Are you nuts, Waffler, or just a stooge? The US debt was in the hundreds of millions after WWII -- it is now in the trillions. BTW a trillion dollars is the equivalent of $100,000 a year for 10 million years!! When Waffler says "we are very very wealthy" who is he talking about? Group-think corrupts the mind. Every dollar in your pocket, Waffler, is a dollar owed with interest. Pay back all debt, there will be no money and we will still owe more! The US government may be very very powerful, but 'we' the people are very very broke and being loaded up with more and more debt every day -- mostly to pay merely the interest on the debt. What Waffler means is that there are some very very wealthy people in America and therefore they should pay for the needs of everyone else. Of course, he says 'we' when he means someone else, because he believes that someone else's wealth is his. Delusion and denial are rampant among those on the government dole.

"It is a signal advantage of taxes on articles of consumption that they contain in their own nature a security against excess. They perscribe their own limit, which cannot be exceeded without defeating the end proposed - that is, an extension of the revenue...If the duties are too high, they lessen the consumption; the collection is eluded; and the product to the treasury is not so great as when they are confined within proper and moderate bounds. This forms a complete barrier against oppression of the citizens by taxes of this class (on consumption rather than income), and is itself a natural limitation of the power of imposing them." --Alexander Hamilton-- Sounds like Hamilton supported something like the Fair Tax and was against any income tax.

It's time to stop calling each other names and look for solutions and be part of the solution to many of our "BIG" government concerns. Go to "thomas.gov" and study H.R. 25 or the senate version S 122.

They said the 18th Amendment would never be repealed -- but it was. Time to repeal the 16th Amendment NOW! It can be done if the People have a voice in the matter.

A slight clarification to my 1913 trifecta reference. I know that the current administration of the SS system didn't commence in its current form until 1935. The reference was to the "Social" legislation in 1913 to the 1935 entity such as, a federal reserve act creating a virtual trust fund ('lock box') for an economic benefit to the people. (laughable if not so criminally destructive)

The rise of Social Conscience, becoming aware of oppression. The socialist guard is already at the gate, gun in hand. Welcome to America, a province of Rome. Typical of ancient tyranny, by one of the best at empire building, that has ever been. Keep your powder dry !
