"What a valuable tool food aid can be
in changing behaviour. ... food is power.
... Yes, it's bribery.
We don't apologize for that."

Great 'New World Order' mentality. Don't kill them in war when they disagree with you, just starve them to death.

Prescient to put this inthe same context as Ayn Rand...no such thing as an humanitarian impulse that at is core is not self interest. And once again, how to rate a quote that is true but you hate the truth it reveals..

Another example that foreign aid is in fact foreign meddling that enrich the powerful at the expense of the very people they are supposed to be 'saving'.

To get food from you a starving person will agree to whatever you ask in order to survive. If that person survives to adulthood they will resent you for meddling in the affairs of their country.

Typical rhetoric from the U.N. The United Nations has never been successful in a single mission they have undertaken, other than to extract massive sums of money from the American people. It's way past time to get out of the U.N. and send their delegates packing. The U.N. headquarters would make a great home for Baskin Robbins or Krispy Kreme Dougnuts. In addition, any foreign soldier wearing a blue beret on American soil is a target of opportunity as far as I'm concerned.

I think this quote should be put into correct context. Here's a more fleshed out version: "At the World Food Programme we have recognized what a valuable tool food aid can be in changing behaviour. In so many poorer countries food is money, food is power. ... Yes, it's bribery. We don't apologize for that. We are changing behaviour, we are giving hope and opportunity to young girls -and that is all that counts"

It just goes to show that evil exists in every level of society. If we accept this NWO we will be put in that same position.

This has been edited and taken completely out of context. I could take a high school paper on Romeo & Juliet, pull out a few phrases and piece them together and call it a direct quote to make you look like a crazed lunatic who wants to kill his family. Here is a link to the actual statement regarding women being treated as second class citizens in most of the world. http://www.un.org/esa/gopher-data/conf/fwcw/conf/una/950906150325.txt

Hey Don: This is a quote from the same speech. Why does she just quote stats from these countries? Because these statistics fit her mold and the stats from the rest of the world do not. And it would also show that women do not eat last in most countries and that women do not produce the majority of the food in the other countries of the world. This comment is not anti women. It is just cold hard facts. Women and children should NEVER be abused by anyone and where that happens, those responsible should be held accountable. Catherine Bertini quotes, "Women are the sole breadwinners in one household in three worldwide." "They (women) produce 80 percent of the food in Africa, 60 percent in Asia and 40 percent in Latin America. Women hold together our families, our communities, our societies. What could be more right, more just than for us to create a world in which women don’t eat last?"

Words in power. Some call it stupidity. Right, you didn't have to apologize. We understand.

    This quote is a lie.

"Let's have no illusions. We can't easily change the underlying beliefs and prejudices that do so much damage to women worldwide. We cannot quickly change attitudes, but we can change behaviour. At the World Food Programme we have recognized what a valuable tool food aid can be in changing behaviour. In so many poorer countries food is money, food is power. In some of our most successful food aid projects, we literally pay families who do not believe in educating their daughters to send those girls to school. A little free cooking oil can go a long way. We trade a 5 litre can of oil for 30 days of school attendance by a young girl. Yes, it's bribery. We don't apologize for that. We are changing behaviour, we are giving hope and opportunity to young girls and that is all that counts. Each small change in behaviour will one day pay off in a change in attitude."
