"Some people regard private enterprise as a predatory tiger to be shot.
Others look on it as a cow they can milk.
Not enough people see it as a healthy horse, pulling a sturdy wagon."

Sir Winston Churchill

Obama is doing everything he can, with the help of the libs in Congress, to stamp out the free market and replace it with socialism. He needs to be replaced in November.

Jim K. have you any specific examples to support your diatribe. Carnegie preyed on the labor of immigrant Italians (abused them) got rich and gave the money to build libraries. Romey got rich by destroying American labor and sending the jobs overseas, put his money offshore, I gave the rest to the Mormon Church. Sometimes private enterprise has little or no morality or sense of societal obligations, That is why we need regulation and an educated sense of society obligations. Private enterprise did not build the roads, bridges, dams, schools, etcetera etecetera.

This a sensible and wise observation of the difficulty of mankind. The first rule is personal responsibility and the last rule is "somebody take care of me:. The first rule represent "free enterprise" and the last rule is pure "socialist dictatorship". God bless America

Waffler, how desperate are you? Your half truths have deteriorated to almost no truth. I have nearly as much disdain for Romney as Mr. Obamunist Goodwrench the assassin but, there is no need to lie to bolster your ad homonyms. Romney started from a rich base while only using such to create his own wealth. He created his wealth by creating jobs and wealth for others in the USA (Staples for example) Mr. Obamunist Goodwrench the assassin on the other hand illegally bankrupted GM and sent most of the jobs overseas. Spent billions of tax dollars on failing companies to only have the successful ones build their plants overseas. The assassin’s stimulosus bolstered foreign banks. Obamacare has / is / and will continue to put people out of work and otherwise kill the economy. Mr. Obamunist Goodwrench the assassin’s non-drill / anti-energy policy is preventing job growth, energy independence, and a free and secure America. The reason you know of Romney’s Cayman accounts is because he disclosed them - where is Mr. Obamunist Goodwrench the assassin’s non-photoshopped birth certificate, Occidental records, original SSN, draft card, etc., etc., etc. Talking about giving money to the Mormon Church, at least Romney hasn’t declared war on Christianity like Mr. Obamunist Goodwrench the assassin. Waffler, societal obligations ? ? ? Where is the lawful nexus that obligates ? “private enterprise has little or no morality” ? ? ? The morality comes the unalienable right to engage in private enterprise. The little to no morality (as well as unlawful and unjust) is compelled compliance, license, victimless crimes, legislation against private enterprise, larceny with impunity (theft of the noble labor’s fruits, funny money, etc.) denial of inalienable rights. Private enterprise activities, in and of themselves, uniquely falls within the categories of law and justice - having absolutely nothing to do with morality. Your entire diatribe falls within Churchhill’s tiger and cow examples with a hatred for the hoarse. Your religious socialist dogmas are immoral.

Waffler. PS. private enterprise built the roads, bridges, dams, schools, etc. The occupying statist theocracy infesting this land, through its participating usurpers, despots, and tyrannous malefactors also financed private enterprise to build and maintain certain roads, bridges, dams, schools, etc. through their ill-gotten means (unlawful / unjust theft, funny money, etc.) In my private enterprise, I have participated through other private enterpris in construction and maintenance of both private and public roads and bridges and have personally owned a private school (the tiger or the cow didnt help me). Government is an intangible, incapable of creating or maintaining roads, bridges, dams, or schools.

The totalitarians want to hunt the tigers, milk the cows, yoke the horses, and steal the cart. Waffler has demonstrated the statist mind set well. "You didn't build that," actually applies to the State, for it is individuals and private service providers that compete for the work and eventually do the work.

Waffler - have been reading your comments for some time now and it is very clear that you, like our dear leader, have never built anything. You have never known the joy nor the agony of putting in 80 hour weeks and paying employees to work half as hard, then being socked with the socialism of workman comp premiums, soc security payments, medicare medicaid, unemployment compensation and disability percentages. Every creature on the planet was intended to be weaned from the teat at some point. The statists have fooled you into thinking that it is otherwise. Good luck when the teat runs dry - you might actually enjoy being a productive adult.

I was an accountant Rearden and computed all of those things and do tax returns for small businesses who paid such things. If a guy cannot successfully pass on all of these costs in the price of his product then I guess he just does not have a very good product. All social security, medicare, and welfare pay outs wind up back in the hands of the producers of goods and services. Of a truth if there were no poor then their would not be any rich. Dividends capital gains come from the ability to make and cell something that has value to the user. You have not been reading long enough or close enough that's for sure Rearden.

Rearden since all employers are in the same situation in regards to the deductions and contributions you mention none are in any competitive disadvantage with any other. The only complaint they might legitimately have is the "burden" of doing the accounting, filling out the forms, and writing a check. Most of the money or half of it in regards to SS and Medicare came from the individual worker. In most states retailers are paid a fee by the state for their work in collecting and remitting the state sales taxes. So cut out tired and trite teary eyed sob stories about the poor employers of labor. Ever since its inception in 1953 Republicans have been trying to get rid of the Small Business Adminstration. The agency has helped millions of small guys get started in businesses grossing up to $10 million dollars. If the Republicans are for small business as they claim why do they try to get rid of this Agency. Obama put the Administrator of the Agency into his Cabinet.

Waffler, how has placing a socialist in a statist theocracy’s Cabinet of Czars helped the working businessman or private enterprise? Mr. Obamunist Goodwrench the assassin has overseen Rome’s burning (locking the barn where healthy horses and sturdy wagons are stored - beating the people to pieces, grinding the faces of the poor, fomented race hatred, enforced totalitarian tyranny, bankrupting the country by many means including, nation building through wars and rumors of wars); he has milked the cow (untold vacations, golf games, sun dresses, increased his retirement, made the rich, including himself richer with more influence while financing poverty); and, he has repeatedly shot and otherwise impugned private enterprise which he considers a predatory tiger (almost half of working age people out of work, leftist socialists violently attacking entrepreneurs running for office, enforcing a despot’s medical system to the ruin of commerce, imposed illogical / unlawful over regulation, and had taught in theocratic seminaries (government schools) that the state is god with ultimate position to care for the non-enterprising herd and create all law to eliminate competitors).
