"We are apt to shut our eyes against a painful truth...
For my part, I am willing to know the whole truth;
to know the worst; and to provide for it."

Patrick Henry

The truth isn't always what you want to hear, but you have to remember that God is on your side & that he makes everything happen for a reason.

    The individual can really only know the truth of his immediate surrondings. But today via media technology our immediate surrondings have become the entire planet. This Founding Father was prophetic concerning the environmental issues of our time.

    I love the truth, as long as it supports my opinions.

    I love the truth, particularly when it is at variance with my dearly held opinions - for there is adventure.

    The pain is going to come whether you see it coming or not. It's the action of an adult to face the unpleasant truth with eyes wide open. Children will close their eyes, plug their ears, and whine against the inevitable.

    It takes courage to face hard truths -- that's why most prefer comfortable delusions. If you speak the truth enough, you will depress everyone who has banked on lies, myths, and prejudices -- that's why we avoid it. It is essentially 'impolite' to be truthful. ;-)

    All that I want is the truth. I don't care if that truth is that Humans are owned by some intergalactic empire, and we are viewed as lowly barnyard animals. If it is true, I want to know. It won't change my opinion of myself, as I am content with who I am. I won't be afraid, as I have no fear of death. It is just that I detest being lied to, and I find the truth too sweet. No matter how much it flies in the face of previous beliefs.

    To Megan: I seriously doubt that God makes everything happen. If this is true, He's got a lot of explaining for the misery in the world that he made happen. Which reminds me of an Ogden Nash poem: "God made the fly, and forgot to tell us why." If God has anything to do with us mortals, which I doubt, he may allow things to happen, but He doesn't make everything happen.

    I love Patrick Henry! Watch The Constitution Class by Michael Badnarik and read his book or at least chapter 2 for free: 'Rights vs Privileges' in 'Good To Be King'.
