Good government protects the people in their inherent and inalienable rights-- nothing more, nothing less. Good socialist government is the most dangerous government, because it deprives the people of the need to look after themselves.

WOW! So what are we all complaining about. We should be happy and rejoice that we have such rotten government in this country!

That Gandi, smart guy, even if he did not believe that cows are food. I do prefer to look after myself.

I have to disagree with what he thinks good government is. If a government seeks to "take care" of the people's needs it is really seeking control over its beneficiaries. Perhaps the text it was lifted from would clarify the quote for me. Good government stays out of your business as long as you stay out of the business of others. It is impossible to imagine a truly good government by my standards. We are just luck to have the one we have. In spite of all the ridiculous crap going on it still is much better than any other I know of.

There is no "best interests" for any given populace; what's best for Joe CEO may not benefit me at all. Don't ever cede jurisdiction over your own fate to someone else--especially a group of officious administrators! What are you, then? Who are you allowed to be?

Thomas Paine said that government in it's best state is only a necessary evil, in it's worst state, an intolerable one.

Commonsense is not very common. That is why so many wish to work for others. It avoids responsibility, of the total. Dependent upon the hand of others. While we as Independent individuals, hold corrupt government in the greatest of disdain, for the manipulative and deceiving practices of enslaving, the people !!
