"The history books say that during the Progressive era, government trustbusters reined in business. Nonsense. Progressive 'reforms' -- railroad regulation, meat inspection, drug certification and the rest -- were done at the behest of big companies that wanted competition managed. They knew regulation would burden smaller companies more than themselves. The strategy works."

Quite the tactic of big companies and their use of centralized power to quell competition in the market. Unethical practices of big business and the gaming of small business and individuals for profit. Dirty minds and dirty money ! As usual, history books can be personal views of designing corruption, socialist indoctrination.

Big Business is the enemy of progressives yet these monopolies arose due to the government regulations libs demand.

Besides competition, socialism styled regulation is inflationary, thwarts new and beneficial innovations / creativity and is overall a totalitarian's enslavement of others. By example: When I was in business, I made the best, most eco friendly, longest lasting and the highest quality / premium product in my field  in the world. Where I had produced for decades, within just a couple of years my cost of manufacturing went up over 25% due to nothing more than socialistic style of regulation. I was eventually forced to move out of State.

Further, socialist style regulation takes money out of businesses that use to get paid to the workers. Socialism is a diseased religion that destroys that which it promotes.

Sounds like a creditable deductive analysis, excellent Mr. Stossel.

Socialism challenges individual sovereignty, inalienable rights and liberty at nature's law. Socialism, through its many denominations, creates censorship, illogical dialogue, pain, suffering, poverty, anger, violence, death, war and all else that is contrary to the nobility of man.
