Enoch Powell had the foresight to see what would happen in Britain now. He was not a racist but believed in his country and his people. He had a great gift in foreseeing future problems and wanted to address them. He would have been the best Prime Minister of the 60/70s but he had to go because the hierachy didnt like his outspoken views. Mr Powell had the guts to say what he thought and and had the conviction to say it in public. Good for him. God bless you sir .

I agree completely with the above comment. If you put the question of racism to one side and ask if he was right or wrong. Your own eyes will confirm that the conditions he so wanted to prevent are developing just as he predicted. Yet his veiws are still widely condemed or ignored. A great man wasted.

I am not a victim! If I am, it's because I chose to be ignorant of the situation, and that is still my responsibility.

Enoch Powell's 'rivers of blood speech' is one of the most culturally divisive and descriptive at the same time. Unfortunately you don't have to dig too deep to unearth racism in this country or in the U.S. A dispassionate view of Powell was his acceptance of the substantive reality and a call to do something about it. It was and still is dismissed by many as inflammatory rhetoric.

Is this a case of an individual refusing to surrender responsibility or the refusal to take responsibility, for their life or their actions?
