"It is precisely this clinging to victimhood as a means of demonstrating one’s virtue and advancing one’s well-being that has led us into a society in which welfare and quotas are “civil rights,” government handouts are “entitlements,” and payment to girls having babies out of wedlock are “compassionate,” while hard-working, ambitious people are “greedy,” punishment of crime is “oppression,” and an independent thinker who stands for courage and self-reliance is dismissed as an “Uncle Tom.”"

To the list of victimhood that is destroying virtue and advancing degradations, I would here add the applied religion of atheism (which is an umbrella to all the other examples here quoted). Instead of allowing an individuals non-criminal religious expression, all religious expression is reduced to non-extra human experiences. As per the quote, Uncle Sam should take on more of secular freedoms bravado , here attributed to Uncle Tom.

Too true. Even the liberal, self-help, human-potential movement comes to this conclusion. Quit your complaining and grow something.

Great quote. Political Correctness means never saying anything that could possibly offend anyone. This has created those professional victims who are looking for ways to be offended. PC is the scourge of this country.

As an independent thinker black man and a civil rights person I look at myself like a NATE TURNER OR NELSON MANDELA.

Best said. Yes government disbursement has only to be deemed as a 'due' citizen-share - it is neither a dole nor any reward. Similarly the taxes paid to the government are just its 'due earnings'. - not any fine or favor.
