Roosevelt, the socialist end, Mussolini the fascist end, of the same tyrannical stick.

The REAL FDR -- fascist through and through -- the father of Socialism in America. Problem is, most Americans have been indoctrinated into believing that they are free when all the while the noose is being tightened. FDR did more to destroy the free republic of America than any other president in the 20th century -- and yet he is considered a hero. Ptooey!
     -- E Archer, NYC
  •
Absolutely, Archer. The New Deal was a Mussolini style fascist program through and through. Later on, of course, when European fascism fell out of fashion, he fell thoroughly head over heels for Stalin: anything but freedom and responsibility for the people.

Roosevelt- another traitor of our Constituion.

Looking back we can see the stepping stones that have brought America to the deplorable politics and policies of the day...

FDR was almost as dumb as the folks who voted him into office!

One of Franklins' closests advisers in the cabinet, was good old commie Harry Hopkins. Is it any wonder that Roosevelt turned half of Europe over to Stalin after the war. Patton new the Reds for the swine that they were, and wanted to run them back to Moscow. Too bad we didn't.

Mistake here, the above note is mine. Also,it should read "Knew", not"new".

Why are America self destructive don't they see the very people they elect are the one's who hang them out to dry... I'm always amazed when I see a republican stickers on the back of a trucks. Capitalism is a spiral to destruction.

Very educational. Great quote. He would also have loved Obama. He was the closest thing to a dictator this country ever had. His own party reacted by setting term limits for presidents after he died. They were too afraid of him to try it while he was alive.

Roosevelt was Americas chance to have true world recognition and you blew it!

RBE....what capitalism? We've never seen true free market capitalism...just fascism. Or if you like, Corporatism, which can only exist under the guiding hand of a socialist government.

Functioning systems be they railroads, health care, financial institutions is not a bad thing to strive for. Capitalism has failed us many times, what with price fixing, discriminatory practices etcetera. The way of truth is not capitalism or socialism but pragmatism. A recent survey lists Norway as having the best quality of life and yesterday none other than the Mad Money emcee proclaimed Norwegian government and economy to be the pride of the world. Roosevelt was only commenting on Benito's pragmatism but pragmatism must come via democracy as with the Big O, Obama, the most pragmatic politician in a life time. Viva Obama and intelligence in government. (For example most all Republicans say health reform is necessary, they had years with a President and majority status to do something but did nothing - that is not pragmatism.)
     -- Waffler, Smith
  •
Well done Waffler - we just need Obama to divorce himself from corporate America. The ONLY solution to the mess we are in is simply "CAMPAIGN REFORM" Any money or gifts from lobbyists or corporation into the hands and coffers of politicians is an automatic prison sentence.

Enlightening quote, similarly Winnie Churchill once made a positive remark about Adolf Hitlers efforts to drag Germany out of the mud. Fans of Churchill quotes don't want to know this of course and nearly wet themselves when Bernie Ecclestone said recently that Hiler was a great organiser. Does anyone have Winnie's quote handy

I don't see why everyone above is hating on F.D.R he did get this country out of a depression and war. Lets see you do that hippies!
     -- Anonymous, Anonymous
  •
Anonymous...that is laughable. Obviously you have no clue what caused the depression if you think that "one man" brought us out of it. the depression was the result of the cyclical nature of keynsian economics and fractional reserve banking...the bubble burst as it always will. And killing off a bunch of people from a bunch of countries is mereley a diversion from that fact...not a cure. And the same policy of war and profits for banksters continues today. Let's see you wrap your head around that! moron.
