I always find it amazing that people against guns seem to think that the gun decided to pull its own trigger and shoot someone. A gun is simple a tool. Responsibility for its use - correctly or incorrectly - lays with the person using it. Plain and Simple! No different than driving a car, using a saw, cutting food with a knife, etc. We need people to be accountable for their choices and actions!  -- Sheree, Greeley, CO      6

It is not the gun that is bad... as he said "a gun in the hands of a bad man is a bad thing", but he is 100% wrong when he claims that in the hands of a good man it is not a threat... too many have died by accidents caused by good (but dim witted &/or lazy) people who do not control access to those weapons to keep them from children, troubled teens and the "bad people" (LOL, yet another "them" ;-).  -- Anonymous, Reston, VA US      1 3

Lets be clear here. The 2nd Amendment has nothing to do with hunting...it has everything to do with self defense, and making sure the government knows the populace will not be easily enslaved. I am sad that Mr. Anon. in Reston is willing to take the ability of law abiding citizens to defend themselves away in order to prevent accidents. Besides, at least in Texas, there are laws on the books for that. What a trite argument...not unexpected though. There is nothing that reduces the level of viollent crime like a concealed carry law. 'Arms' include ALL weapons. The more powerful the weapon, the more responsibility is required. When 'power' of any kind is used contrary to the rights of the People, an in justice has occured whether the power be a hand gun or a property tax. The purpose of a free republic is to protect the inherent rights to personal power with respect to everyone else's rights and powers. The Constitution does not limit ANY rights of the People -- it is the limitation of the powers we collectively pool into our government. Most gun laws are completely unconstitutional. Just once, I'd like to see an anti-gun point of view that is well-thought out, based upon unbiased research, and not emotionally-fueled. I find it interesting that (contrary to the stereotype) pro-gun advocates often tend to appear better informed and more articulate than the average anti-gunner. As demonstrated above, name-calling and insults are often the first and/or last response to anything/anyone supporting the subject of firearms. Sadly, accountability is a dying concept in our society--It's easier to point a finger at an inanimate object and declare it responsible than to accept any responsibility yourself. Mr. Anon: the anti-gun crowd makes no distinction between which guns are acceptable and which are not--There is NO middle ground. Never was. Additionally, it amazes me how anyone could be convinced that law-breakers are going to be affected by new laws. Criminals DON'T CARE. Ben's(of St. Louis) statement is dead-on. Hector, in a free republic, in which everyone is considered responsible for their actions, one is judged by what they do, not by what they 'could' do.
