Ah, but there in lies the rub... what is "absolutely necessary"? Education and health care seem far more "absolutely necessary" than to support a "generational war" that was started on lies.

You know, I am always amazed...FYI the generational war was started by terrorist attacks. The attempt to twist the whole subject to fit something you want to hammer is deplorable but expected. It makes it difficult if not impossible to have a reasonable conversation...but I suppose that is a foregone conclusion. Now, about taxes. The point of the quote is that taxes are forcible extractions and that they should never be levied lightly, or for superfolous reasons. A case in point is the several billion dollars in surplus revenues in the Texas coffers...and the rascals still think they need more...ie "Legalized robbery." But, that will be taken care of in due time.

No, the war was started by a gang of greedy imperialists just as planned and explained in detail in their Project for a New American Century. And Coolidge's remark omits one of the most important items of taxing: how they will be apportioned.

In which part of the Constituion did we the people give the government the power to steal money from one person to provide healthcare or education for another. Ooops forgot you guys don't believe in the Constitution, just in destroying it. It is Comrade Marx you trust and his legacy of abject failure, starvation and 100 million dead bodies. Apportionment what a joke punish the successful. Equal percentage across the board is the only fair way. To hell with the freeloaders, let the private charities take care of those in need it is not the federal government's job, and they have failed miserably at it. Just what is the exit strategy from the 6.5 trillion dollar war on poverty. Talk about a generational war started intentionally to keep people in power: democrats and socialists, same thing actually.

Buying votes is not a legitimate reason to tax, yet that is what a significant portion of government revenue is used to do through quaint descriptions like "earmarks" and "social investments". I would give this quote 10 stars if they were available.

Education and health care have deteriorated ever since the government began regulating it. You can tell the socialists, they think the average citizen should support welfare and pay ever more taxes. Libertarians and those who love freedom believe people should support themselves, and everyone should pay less taxes. If 10% is enough for God, it's enough for the government.

I agree with Anonymous from Reston.

Depending on what is being taxed - it could be all robbery. The 2nd plank of the communist manifesto is usurpation and theft from penny one. The same is true for insurance.

The last president we had that not only believed in a constitutionally limited government but governed accordingly. We need a lot more like him.

Taxation, regardless of where the money goes, is legalized theft. Some taxes are necessary, but are still theft.

We as a nation started by Grace ! The ground should be flat around the Tree of Liberty. To tax a sovereign's property and labor removes all sign of the right to be Free from oppression ! Simple. Compassion for the poor and needy, bears the burden of honesty. Greed blinds the mind from compassion. As also jealousy hardens the heart. Patience is earned through experience, Godliness with contentment is great gain. To think yourself to be something when you are nothing is a fools game. So many comparing themselves among themselves are not wise, God is Judge, and shows mercy to whom he will show mercy. And to the merciful he shows himself merciful. To the forward he shows himself forward. And whom he will he hardens their heart. Every individual will give account ! God requires not 10% under the old law, for it was taken out of the way and ( nailed ) to the cross of Liberty ! We are a nation under this message of grace by way of Liberty and it is supported by Freewill offering. Never forced by the heavy hand of tyrannical men or women ! He requires not the oppression of the old law. Under which socialism thrives and can never be reformed !! It must be abolished !! Church and State bear the responsibility of implementing and carrying out the plunder of the Freemen and Women of this once great Republic of Liberty for all.

I would say "Collecting more taxes than has been agreed to is legalized robbery."

After all, our government is supposed to be one of consent. We have the power and the right to say NO to tax collectors demanding more than has been agreed to. In fact, the abuse of this is so extreme, that most people allowing taxes to be taken out of their salary do not realize that the income tax rules do not apply to labor. But because the IRS has gotten away with it for so long, and has the full support of the US government, Americans are duped out of their life's labors. Slavery has not been abolished, the conditions have just been improved (for some). ;-)
