"Little else is requisite to carry a state to the highest degree of opulence from the lowest barbarism, but peace, easy taxes, and a tolerable administration of justice: all the rest being brought about by the natural course of things."

And "little else is requisite" for swift descent into "lowest barbarism" than pursuing successive foreign invasions and military occupations. At Nuremberg, the first and worst war crime of all was defined as simply starting a war - a thing in itself made possible only by imposition of heavy taxation and/or acquired debt. Subsequent suppression and control of domestic populations then becomes necessary, as the sheer profligacy of pursuing foreign empire, perpetual war and hometown prison-building becomes increasingly unmistakable and unbearable at home. Does any of this sound remotely familiar?

Mann, said well. The occupying statist theocracy infesting this land's current state of affairs would prove this quote's accuracy. Peace (non-police state, non-military adventurisms, defense of inalienable rights, etc.), taxes that are NOT enslaving and criminal (taxes such as income and property are enslaving, unlawful and unjust), courts administering justice (a close to extinct concept - courts now are mostly an enforcement agency of compelled compliances, licenses, victimless crimes, personal prejudices, social engineering, the religion of socialism’s implementation, government crimes against We The People, and any other despotism of the day as would enforce the god on the bench’s powermania) and a NON-barbaristic representative republic limited by the Constitution (extreme violators of such, by example would be, King George the torturer and Mr. Obamunist Goodwrench the assassin) would be a great start to prospering economy. An honest, non-debt based monetary system based of nature’s fiscal law would also be a requisite. A government based on law instead of man is another requisite to freedom, liberty, and sustained prosperity. A moral and religious people, as envisioned by the majority of the Constitution’s founders would also be needed to sustain the prosperity.

Just goes to show that the political parties of today whether from the left or right (so-called) pursue the same destructive policies. I do not believe this to be an accident. The State is trying to become supreme. We must stop asking the State for ANYTHING, it is a racket and a trap. Starve the beast. Wow, agreeing with both Mann and Mike is rare. ;-)
