We hold this truth to be self evident. As a single factoid, The US is prosperous and productive - after all, shovel ready jobs were only the start to freedom and liberty's benefits There are fiscal laws, the closer man's tools (codes, ordinances, regulations, rules, statutes, etc.) are to the laws of nature and of nature's God, the greater the realized prosperity, liberty, productivity and freedom. With near 100,000,000 eligible persons not working, out of a total population of 350,000,000, a glow in the dark realization glares - liberty and freedom are disappearing fast..

Everyone must produce at the very least as much as they consume in order to be prosperous. The Sun and Earth provide all that we need to thrive and every animal must WORK at foraging, hunting, building, rearing offspring, and defending themselves and their territory to the best of their ability in order to survive.

The purpose of government is to band together with others and pool the collective resources to do the same thing. But when those contracted to administer the community's government according to the community's charter attempt to 'rule' (i.e. regulate) those that hired them, the community no longer has a government of consent. This is what we have today in the US -- government employees constantly put themselves between the common man and his family, his community, his business, his customers, his suppliers. Every activity is taxed to some degree -- not just in terms of money but in action itself.

This corruption of power is common throughout history which results in monumental empires that wreak havoc around the world -- the length of their run is only dependent upon how much power they can manage to secure. I do not see this trend EVER ending in this world, which is why the American Common Law is the best bet for going forward. Unfortunately, the US government is completely out-of-control. Unless there is some great reformation among the American people, the US government will continue its attempt to dominate the world in the name of freedom.

Archer, I really like how you have explained today's scenario. A government (statist theocracy), now foreign to We The People, enforcing superiority by threat, duress and the gun, places themselves in between the individual sovereign with inalienable right and his commerce, travel, religious ordinances, etc. - most all expressions of liberty and freedom ( I liked your list). Activities are taxed, made illegal (by license and otherwise), as well as a myriad of other ways, thus killing prosperity and productivity.
