Hmmm.... I say what about Life itself? Are we all not here for only a certain number of years? The job to be done is THE most important job, in my opinion: The job of Self Development. Time is of paramount importance no matter which job you attend to but I would say that Time also takes precedence over Life itself.

School---or learning---is of great importance. Without learning the "job to be done" will not be done as well as it should.

Get 'em in and get 'em out and who cares if they can read or write. We constantly hear about the "problem" of "education".Politicians yak about it constantly and their solution is always the same, throw more money at it., and the beat goes on. Our public schools have little to do with "education".

If you face any experience as if it were a prison, then you will experience it that way... you get out what you put in... the indictment here is of the students and these writers, not education (or even the system).

There is an element of time, and patience in many things. You can accomplish anything if you have patience, just ask a Doctor who has a lot of them. Seriously though school just like a Doctor holding a patients hand until he gets well, parents and teachers are doing the same for students until they are able to "fly" on their own. It is not perfect. Human beings are not machines and good education should not treat them that way but give the child, the teenager, the college student opportuniies to be themselves, grow in many different ways and make of this thing we call life what they will. I think the idea of "life as art" is a good approach and an apporach that stresses LIBERTY and choice.

"The job to be done" is to break the independent individual, to overwhelm him with the collective's basest desires, drum into him that the so-called 'good' of the many outweighs the rights of the individual, that Liberty is just a state of mind and that any kind of prison is fine because we can just simply choose to take a positive view about it instead of fighting for justice, independence, freedom, and the responsibility that goes with it. Ignorance is Truth, I suppose.

Schools have become more impatient lately. Since it was taking too long to break the students, it is now fashionable to drug them into submission.
