The Bible in no place prohibits drinking wine or "beer." The Bibles condemns drunkenness. The Bible refers to moderate drinking as good and normal. Drinking produces gladness. Drunkenness produces harm. I find it interesting that some of those who comment here so frequently have criticized my alleged view on prohibition of alcohol, while I never stated support for its prohibition. What is their problem? Drunkenness?

Yes Beer is Good. Damn the namby pambies that would extinguish all the fun out of our lives. They are the same ones that don't trust the People with Arms (weapons, guns, whatever..)

I don't think this is actually a quote from Benjamin Franklin. I think the original quote was taken a bit out of context. Any thoughts?

lol, if Ben said it, it was from his younger days ;-) David, check your scriptural history again (Sampson for one was of an order not to drink any hard drinks) I've never imbibed in the noble fermentation, never the less, it is each persons prerogative to participate in what ever recreational refreshment he desires as long as the rights of others are not infringed.

I enjoy a good pint now and again, but it is hardly "living proof" of anything.

You have to love Ol' Ben, and it is easy for me a Philadelphia Boy. The Bible says that Jesus came so "that we may have life and have it more abundantly". I think that means that he wants us to be happy. I think there is something to what Ben is saying. Lack of moderation in anything will make you ill.

This quote doesn't seem to have much to do with liberty. I wonder, is beer also proof that God want us to have cirrhosis of the liver?

Sounds like Ben had a great sense of humor. He probably would fit right in the 21st century.

WORDS TO LIVE BY... Beer doesn't cause cirrhosis. It actually promotes kidney activity. The Germans were brewing beer in 780. And we think WE're civilized.

Beer has been given credit for the existence of civilization. It is believed that hunter gatherers had the ability to make wine but to make beer agriculture was needed. It was then apparent that cultivating the ground had more benefits than foraging. Of course this resulted in needs for mathematics, planning and staying put in one place. .

I said it before and I'll say it again, what the heck, Beer is VERY Good, and to hell with the namby pampies that want to tell everyone else what to do. Wanna live longer or help others to do so? Get an Education!! On average each year of school adds 18 months to your life.

I think Ben's sense of humor is powerful. It must have made God laugh, too. :)

Stupid quote. God is not interested in your beer run. True joy is in Him. This is an attempt to make Him less God and more downtown Joe.

I don't drink it, but don't mind those that do.
