Men that create empires with force are doing so for their own benefit (riches,place in history,land mass they annex). Jesus formed his empire/following by showing love for his fellow man/woman through actions, speeches and hope that those following him (12 apostles) would be able to tell his message. In naming several of the great conquerors of ages past, he points out the undeniable fact that all of their achievments together could not replicate those of our Messiah.
