Not true. What about Gandhi? What about Martin Luther King, Jr.? What about Harriet Tubman and and Susan B. Anthony?

Capone is correct. Consider the American Revolution and our Civil War, KInd words, negotiations were inadequate to the tasks. Had Gandhi called for mass violent protest by his millions of Hindu and Muslim followers, India would have overwhelmed the British and achieved independence years and years before the British surrender in the late 1940s. I wonder what would have happened in the USA in the 1940s, after WW2, had millions of American slave descendents decided to coordinate violent protests, if their peaceful demands for de facto rights as Americans hqad been denied. 12-19-2009

How many innocent Americans of slave descendants were brutalized and murdered by 'white' Americans between the end of the Civil War and the MLK/LBJ led Civil Rights Act? I believe the number is between 5000 and 10,000 for those murdered, and at least as many brutalized physically. Those psychologically maimed may run into the millions. 12-19-2009
