"[T]he sprawl of government into every conceivable realm of life has caused the withering of traditional institutions. Fathers become unnecessary if the government provides Aid to Families with Dependent Children. Church charities lose their mission when the government provides food, shelter and income to the poor. And the non-poor no longer feel pressed to provide aid to those in need, be they aged parents or their unfortunate neighbors—“compassion” having become the province of the state."

Great observation, accurate assessment and good start on what socialism, in its theocratic form, does to the human spirit and psyche. An exposition in reality of the Godless religion, having become a national establishment, that is killing the family (the very core of society and individual development), true compassion, and the principles of freedom and liberty (in spirit and physical expression).

We still support a bunch of kids in S. America by providing them with school supplies, but when anyone comes to the door soliciting donations for whatever... I always tell them we're over taxed and can no longer afford to donate anything. And in reality, we can't, because we are over taxed by a government busy sending our "out of thin air" money overseas. That's what socialism and a demand economy will do for a society.

You're both right IMO; and to what end has this transition to interhumanitarian alientation and despondency been perpetrated for ? Total hegemonic control of automatonic populations of the earth to "wreak" the will of the despots, as in Afghanistan, and soon Lybia or Iran, etal.? Even Wisconson "wreaks" of such cabal infestation with a totally transparent, abhorent governor who could have stated things much more differently than to condemn the teachers outright. They also, could have set an example for the country..and the world if they were more "informed" as to the nature of the miscreant cabal eroding every nitch of our existance, more and more every day; for the time I will forgive any them of impertinent selfish motives, but we all must learn to cooperate and find ways to rid ourselves of the tyranny we labor under.

Our, uh, or should I say THE government here is growing like a cancer and will soon consume us all. If only Drs. Ron and Rand Paul can slow or stop it.

Great insight into the hateful mean-spirited side of radical conservatism.

The 'A' from Reston seems to be on her tirade of WHAT ? ? ? again. I remember a report given on NBC years ago about how Christian conservatives give far more to charity than any other group. And, even at that, what does that have to do with the quote. The "A' from Reston, are you saying, the other than radical conservatives (supporters of the statist theocracy that implemented religions duties, to the detriment of the individual and society), are not mean-spirited and, those radical conservatives that would be responsible fathers having their children dependent on them in a family setting are mean spirited? Are you saying that the many churches relinquish all charitable activities to the grand church - the statist theocracy? Are you saying that those radical conservatives that are charitable neighbors need to stop their compassionate work so all glory can be claimed by the national establishment of religion and, if they don't they are hateful mean-spirited? hmmm WHAT ? ? ?

That's just so sad...why don't you head on down to your nearest government "hug" agency and gitcha some lovin? My God , but you Libs are pathetic.

I find it unconscienable that someone can defend the incessant expansion of government into every facet of life, into every decision a person must make, every transaction between 2 people is under the eye of Big Brother, always with its hand out for 'protection' money. Whether we are speaking, having sex, eating, or trading, the government pushes itself in between everyone and everything. Has it ever worked? Why do we put up with it?
