A select militia such as the national guard and a general militia such as an individual sovereign citizen soldier free to unite when a third party de facto body (such as the statist theocracy infesting this land) occupies the land of the free and home of the brave are two separate entities. An example as to why a general militia would be best is: If there was a land where each and every, any and all person(s), as individual sovereigns protected themselves at law in their inalienable rights and all other way, hiring servants in a representative republic to enlarge and enhance self expression, AND, a - lets say a democracy - took power where the majority then made laws, as an all powerful, third party monotheistic god, inflicting its will on whom ever it pleased. The general militia is a protection against tyranny -- the People have a right to alter or abolish their government -- always have, always will. If the President does not stay within the Constitutional limits chartered by the people, then the President has no lawful standing. Of course, the rogue government will call the sovereign citizens 'terrorists' -- while those defending their liberty and nation against tyrants refer to themselves as patriots. There will be plenty who will side with the Crown, like Waffler, but when enough people tire of being subjects to the arbitrary will of men, the cause of Liberty will rise again. Right now there are too many parasites living off the labors of the industrious, and the welfare state is designed to breed dependency among the people, so that the self-sufficient can be labeled 'rich' and thus taxed to pay for the servitude of the rest. But I think the millions of people who have recently been screwed by our rogue government might be pissed enough to get serious. It will start with individual states saying 'NO' to Washington backed up by all those armed citizens in those states -- i.e. the general militia. Waffler. you say the community is the "nation"? Why not include the rest of the planet...and the Moon while we're at it? Oh that's right, we already have in the form of the UN...which is a globalist organization and does not have any community's best ineterests in mind. Waffler, quibbles ? Waffler, through out the world there are separate jurisdictions occupying and claiming the same land. For example: The Lakota Nation (being recognized as a separate nation by the UN, having independent treaties with foreign nations, etc.) and the occupying statist theocracy of the once USA are in such relationship. If the individual sovereigns (once represented by chosen hirelings in a republican form of government) chose to once again assert their inalienable rights, it would be by the general militia that such an occurrence would happen. Carlton, Lee in the quote is talking about the militia that is to be secured in reference to the Constitution and to the Constitutions community. The Constitutions community is of course the nation. Now you might wish the community to jest be say your family or one or two families adjacent to you. Some folk just have a narrow view. Mike I don't exactly get your drift but I feel certain and will look it up that The Lakota Nation is not recognized by the UN at least in the sense that they do not have a seat in the general assembly. The Indian Nations existing within the United States do not have diplomatic recognition in the rest of the world. They are in fact US citizens.  -- Waffler, Smith
