'Patriotism' can be twisted to mean many things -- often far from being true to the ideals of one's country. Consider the 'Patriot Act' and the 'patriotic' wars against Islam in Afghanistan (as if these people were a threat to the most powerful nation on Earth) and other Middle Eastern countries. Wars based upon lies are dishonorable, and true patriots will not support them.

Heroism on command - like swat teams breaking in on the wrong house and killing the dog; Senseless violence - often employed by jack booted policing combatants enforcing victimless crimes; and, Archer above describes patriotism as would here fit.
