It's a great quote only in as much it reflects our present time - Americans wake up PLEASE...

Eerie. I think of "The Patriot Act" when I read this quote.

Goebbels quote makes me shudder. While not one of the great quotes, it is well worth remembering. Especially when the U.S. government speaks about terrorism, the war in Iraq, and ... yes ... the Patriot Act.

Nazis can't be associated with freedom or liberty.
     -- Jake
  •
That's right, Jake. I rate the quote high because of the truth in it, not due to my approval of it. The same is true for an American Executive military action with or without a Congressional declaration of war. The Patriot Act is a perfect example.

This quote is meaningless without the context it was taken from. We are only left to speculate about what he is talking about. I’m sure it was some socialist crap or extermination/ Darwinian program since that is all the National Socialist Party in Germany was all about anyway.

As a stand alone quote it gets 5 stars on accuracy (welcome to America's imperialistic foreign policy). As a standard for freedom, liberty, and morality it gets a thumbs down.

Goebbels was not American. There is no basis for any such communist's claims of American imperialism. Someone needs to find out what imperialism is. It certainly is not giving people the opportunity for liberty where there was none before. Rabid hate for America can only be a hatred for liberty.
     -- warren, olathe
  •
Goebbels was no doubt talking about silencing dissent. You rabid George W haters please wake up. The Patriot Act was voted on by CONGRESS you ninnies!! CONGRESS can just as easily repeal all or part of it. As for 'American Imperialism', please go stuff yourself somewhere else. Unless you think that economic links are somehow the same as colonial links, in which case you need to attend some more education. Think GLOBALIZATION. All countries that can protect their vital interests overseas do. If you think the US does not have vital economic interests overseas, again, head back to school and learn something this time instead of parroting the leftist gibberish you are prating on with.

Good to see another sane person in here Eric. The idiocy recently has gotten to be over the top.
     -- warren, olathe
  •
Well, as long as Warren and Eric do not think their rights are worth preserving (that is what freedom is, duh) then I guess they won't have anything to worry about at the border. If, however, you spoke your mind against the Patriot Act and used your real name on the internet (which they Google when you are at the border) you might get called into the back room -- like MANY people I personally know. How many more rights do we need to give up to fight the Arabs because "they hate us for our freedoms?" Talk about patriotic ignorance.

If half of what you think was true Mr. Archer this site either would not be hear or the posts would be screened and edited before the post would be made. Don't think that the technology isn't there to find out exactly who it is that posts on this site. My son has no problem finding out the name, address, and phone number of anybody in a matter of minutes of receiving any email or instant massage from any one on his computer. If he can do it the government can too with out any act of congress whatsoever. The fact that people enter such outrageous claims on this site is proof that much of the accusations are false. Moreover it is evidence that the person didn't really believe what he posted or he would have been afraid to post

This site is hosted in Canada under a Canadian domain name and is not subject to US laws. If it were in the States, it would be subject to secret police search and seizures as per the Patriot Act. Publishers of dissenting views are well aware of the risks associated with free speech. Who would have thought quotes from American founding fathers would be considered a threat to the New World Order? Also, Google now censors search results depending on government demands. We respect the right to privacy of our bloggers -- thankfully the Canadian government does not share the U.S.'s love of war and double-speak.

Joseph Goebbels was a very very smart man, there is much we can learn from german nazi leaders, after all it seems that national-socialism isnt really a bad choice after all. I do not believe what they thought me ww2 was all about, if i know something about history i know that winners get to write it and everyone will keep believing it. They keep giving us a picture of mad evil people who tried to take over the world and exterminate all jews but i dare to think theres more. As it seems nazi leaders were smart intelligent people so i doubt they just wanted to create a hell for everyone. French killed around million people in algeria and i never heard of that from media, british said "sorry for Apartheid" and that was it no one says british were evil and wanted to dominate the world. If i was to choose id rather live in a world where nazi's won the war.

COMPARE THE ABOVE QUOTE FROM GOEBBLES TO WHAT OBAMA'S CHIEF OF STAFF AND "BUDDY" SAID: "You don't ever want a crisis to go to waste; it's an opportunity to do important things that you would otherwise avoid." ~ Rahm Emanuel .....GOOGLE on Youtube keywords ="Rahm Emanuel crisis to go to waste" and hear it yourself. Listen to the last few words of him saying "accountablity and transparency." Where were those things with many of Obama's cabinet picks and now with not letting ANYONE even read the Stimulus bill but vote on it with out knowing the full nature of it? (THE BILL WAS PUSHED THROUGH QUICKLY WITH FEAR TACTICS SO THEY COULD ADD A LOT OF JUNK TO IT.) Where is that Transparency??????? lol Yes, we can laugh... but scary too.

Your right Mirko. They were intelligent people that wanted to make the world better. That is what is so frightening about it. They thought they would create a paradise run by a super race. Helping evolution to eliminate those that they deemed inferior was a major part of it. Do not think that it is not possible here. It is well on its way already. All the same tactics are in play. There is a treaty under way that intends to put an end to opposition to Obama. It may not be its stated goal but that is the real goal just the same. It matters not where the web site is hosted. We are all under the watchful eye of big brother and if things do not change to shake up the present administration we may feel the consequences.

Also give this a high rating due to the truth of it, not because i believe that it is right. But, I do find it ironic that a bunch of people regurgitating political propaganda, both liberal and conservative, have posted here. Back to your pastures sheep!

This is a frightening quote because it applies so much to today. America doesnt need oil, they want oil. why? Its all about control so they can turn the taps off. or at least turn them down. Every country is a competitior to the U.S now and the U.S cannot afford to let all these countries run wild and do what they want. Saddam didn't get killed for war crimes. if that was the case why didnt they get him 1991. It's because he was economic threat to the Suadi's by driving oil prices down by not limiting his output. And what made all this possible for the U.S? WAR. History is written by the victor. Don't believe everything you read about the Nazi's. in fact the civilized domesticated lives we lead are in large part due to things the Nazi's invented or discovered. I don't admire the nazi's or condone what they did but I also don't really believe everything the history book's tell us. So it doesn't relly matter who said it because its truth. It could have just as easily been said by Obama or Harper or Brown or any other leader for that matter. In the words of Crass " government is government and all government is force, left or right, or right or left it takes the same old course"

Warren: Imperialism's root derives from the Latin 'imperium' meaning; The right to command, which includes the right to employ the force of the state to enforce its will; this is one of the principal attributes of the power of the executive. (1 Toull. n. 58.) Executive policy extending one person's, institution's, or state's rule of authority over other territories (individuals, countries, etc.) is imperialism. Imperialism is: 1. the policy or practice of extending a state's rule over other territories 2. an instance or policy of aggressive behaviour by one state against another 3. the extension or attempted extension of authority, influence, power, etc, by any person, country, institution, etc: cultural imperialism (World English Dictionary) In a tradition of Goebbels, 'executive' imperialism (Clinton, Bush, Obama, etc. with out congressional approval) has made war their solution for a whole series of problems that could never have been solved in normal times or by constitutional / lawful methods. To call what American imperialism has given Iraq, Libya, etc. freedom, is one sick and twisted redefinition of the concept.

Muammar Gaddafi the assassin (wait, there is an assassin of the non-tried occupying the head U.S. executive office, why arent the American military bombing America to get him out or demanding America - the most oil rich nation in the world - start pumping its own oil) is a minor player in the genocide of humanity. Why isnt the imperialistic Mr. Obamunist Goodwrench the assassin asserting his immediate militaristic authority over the more atrocious territories? Could it be Muammar Gaddafi, outside his humanitarian crimes, has control of a lot of oil, is not genuflecting to the world's puppeteers, is almost done bringing water to Libyan deserts - making Libya totally independent concerning food, has protected Libya by keeping it as one of the extremely few countries not under world currency control, or Gaddafis announcement that Libya was going to start accepting only gold for its oil? It must be that war does solve a whole myriad of problems otherwise not wanting to be exposed or solved.

The war on terror, the war on drugs, the war on homelessness...all distractions and false reasoning to take away more of our liberties more of our rights and give Big Brother more of an excuse to move into our living rooms. All 10 planks of the COMMUNIST manifesto are doing just fine here in the "Land of the Free". Wake up!
