That's democracy for you, the bane of a free republic in which the powers of government are limited by the natural born rights of individuals.

There are HUGE differences between democratic processes and a democracy. The same is true of a republican form, and a republic. Though, there is some cross-over in syntax and content use. "Democratic" would simply refer to a methodology while, "Democracy" refers to mob rule; might makes right; the forest - as is averse to the tree(s) - is a god capable of creating law, a herd mentality with no individual right(s) and a despotism / tyranny with an oligarchical few (claiming the majority's supposed will, real or otherwise). A 'republic' generally refers to a land mass or a body's body politic while, a "republican form" infers individual sovereignty with inalienable rights. Jefferson's Democratic Republic referred to a land mass where individual sovereigns with inalienable rights would utilize democratic methodology. The quote references the totalitarian nature of a democracy.
